Ibeabuchi outworks Dempsey and wins a decision, or a late stoppage. If Ibeabuchi can take Tua's punches like grapes, he'll be able to survive Dempsey's onslaught. It could spell disaster for Dempsey if he catches an Ike uppercut like Chris Byrd did. We saw with the Luis Firpo fight that Jack can be hurt.
Ike Will always remain a mystery. From what we saw of him, he looked great. But consider this: what would we be thinking of Mac Foster had his career ended at 24 and 0, prior to the Quarry fight? We do know that Dempsey is an all time great and I pick Jack over Ike based on that.
Ibeabuchi beat two prime undefeated contenders in Tua and Byrd, nothing like that on Foster's record.
Prime Dempsey like against Willard.....not the much slowed Dempsey of the Tunney fight. Ike isn't a Tunney type fighter.
The top contenders at the time wanted nothing to do with Mac. Quarry was the exception. HE also fought Lyle when others avoided him. Tua was a one dimensional left hooker and Byrd was a powder puncher.
Ike by KO. Despite Ike's short career the fact is that Dempsey never faced anything remotely like him. A 240 pound guy who could box very well, could punch like hell, was athletic as all get out and had a granite chin. And perhaps we should mention that Dempsey drew the color line as champion both in statement and when convenient merely in practice. I don't imagine a fighter like Ike would be high on his dance card.
Dempsey by ktfo Ibeabuchi the most overrated fighter on here. Really shows how people are so intimidated by a number on a scale.
When did Ike ever fight a 192 lbr who could brutally beat 240 lb men into submission and make them his girlfriend practically? When did Ike ever fight someone with the combination of skill and punching power that Dempsey had? When did Ike ever fight a world title holder? Answer: Never
