Not a chance. Both men could see the red mist and then it was, get out the way and let em get on with it!!
A green Quarry did beat Floyd Patterson. Knocked him down 4 times in 2 fights. Does Dempsey have anyone on his resume as good as Floyd Patterson? I would say Jack Sharkey who Dempsey didn't prove anything other than he could fuk a guy up who was complaining to the referee after he hit him in the jewels.
Yeah, I can't see Quarry winning anymore unless maybe if the fight happened today, it might be stopped on cuts in Quarry's favor. Even their, Quarry's skin wasn't exactly impenetrable.
Dempsey was also in his 30s, and had one fight in 4 years, a one sided loss. I understand you have an agenda against Dempsey, but let's at least TRY to be fair.
I don't think so, 6 foot 195 pound Quarry probably isn't doing much more than bothering 270 pound 6'9 Fury before getting knocked out a few rounds in. He could be a better boxer, and without clinching, win possibly. But Fury will clinch and lean until he is exhausted. Fury exhausted 230 pound 6'7 Wilder by leaning, a 220 pound 6'2 cunningham described it as like fighting with a fridge on top of you. Fury is around as skilled and way too much larger. They're already a weight class apart, and soon they'll be two weight classes apart.
His name is Muhammad Ali what about that can’t you people get if you respect him call him by his name.
Anyone remember when Firpo sparred a flyweight? Or some other small weight class boxer, and was getting schooled? That guy is one of Jacks best wins.
Quarry got a very questionable draw and a questionable decision over an old Patterson, fading late both times. To respond to your post , Quarry was the young , active guy in the fights .. I simply disagree with your points.
Ok well, Sharkey we know how that went. Gibbons was a good fighter. Brennan? Not exactly the stuff legends are made of. The substance just doesn't quite match the legend. I gave Dempsey credit for his importance to the sport of boxing. Quarry beat Patterson probably 2X. The draw was controversial. He also beat Spencer, Mathis, Mac Foster ( who was 30-0 30 KOs) later he stopped Ernie Shavers in 1 round and Ron Lyle by comfortable decision. He did have some loses as well but my own view is the level of the division was higher. Better fighters around.
Regarding Jimmy Ellis...as a heavyweight nobody so much as Knocked him down until he met the fists of a prime Joe Frazier. He may have been a middleweight at one time but he proved himself a fine heavyweight.
