    Dempsey By KO/TKO under 5 rounds ------------> 20-40% chance.
    Dempsey By KO/TKO over 9 rounds ------------> 10% chance
    Ali By Unanimous decision ------------> 60-80% chance.

    If the fight goes the distance then Ali will most likely win, depends on how the early rounds go. Dempsey has a small chance though in the later rounds as Ali's legs will be tired but so will dempsey, however the lack of movement will work in Dempsey's favour. All in all a very interesting fight.

    To the posters who underestimate the chances of a prime Jack Dempsey against Clay/Ali
    when a Henry Cooper and Joe Frazier, both left-hooked Ali to the canvas and almost
    OUT. "Oh Ye of Little Faith "...

    PP. Two can play this senseless game...
    And Meehan beat Sam Langford 4rds 1919.
    And Meehan beat Jack Dillon 4rds
    And Meehan lost to Fred Fulton 4rds, whilst Fulton was flattened by
    Dempsey in one-half minute.
    And Dempsey decisioned Meehan 4rds 1917....
    And Meehan was a butterball spoiler whose specialty was FOUR ROUNDS...
    There has seldom been a great fighter who at one time was NOT behind at the end of 4 rounds in one of his bouts....
    Nice try PP , but NO cigar !:happy

    In all seriousness, I still think Dempsey offers Ali the sternest test of any champ who preceded him, moreso than even a prime Liston. Style plus aggression plus power.

    Meehan is a puzzle, wrapped in a riddle, wraped in an enigma.

    The problem with Dempsey is that we see on film and hear by anecdote how immensely talented he was. But then, resume wise, he falters a bit. So, we have to imagine how he would do against a better quality of fighter.

    In this case, his strengths match-up well with Ali's flaws (and a bit vice versa). I still think Ali wins but not before tasting some significant leather. And it would be a great match.

    J, because of Meehan's girth, he most likely was wrapped in a hero sandwich !

    Quite a few smaller hwts gave Ali trouble. Main reason is they better matched him with speed. In Dempsey he would be facing the most talented of smaller hwts. Over 15 it would be a war. Pick here is that Dempsey does what Frazier did to Ali in 1971. Difference though is that Jack had two equally great fists to use while Joe had a great hook and you can basically forget his right. Jack was also able to change up his style wheras Joe could only fight one way. Close win 15 for the Mauler.

    Dempsey a prime and active Dempsey is a hard fight for Ali and lets face it if Henry Cooper and Frazier could hurt and drop Ali with the hook Jack Dempsey also had a great chance. Dempsey had speed and power...on the other side Gene Tunney used his legs well against Dempsey but the rusty JD still had him down for the long count....Dempsey tough and competitive and could have Ali on his ass but IMO Ali could get the close UD but in a series they may split as few....Dempsey's inactivity (which was common for those days as Champ) hurt his legacy in the school of modern thought but in reality Ali has a tough time sharing a ring with him

    if they fought 10 times i see 6 going to dempsey. dempsey had the head movement and crouch , which ali hated , combined with agility, power, moves, and seasoning, dempsey didnt like runners and ali was some boxer. close fights to say the least.
