    I like the thought of this match up.
    Dempsey, coiled and ready to strike and Shavers, with that atomic power in his gloves.

    15 rounds.
    Shavers taken back to 1919, same rules, gloves, etc, at Toledo.
    Shavers, from the Norton blow out.?

    The only way earnie would win is if he landed first, and by saying that i mean if he landed a clean one and stunned Jack and then followed up.
    In 1919 before the rule changes, i could see that happening if Shavers managed to clip jack before jack clipped him.
    But hey, it's not like jack dempsey never met or beat a terrific puncher in his career, i mean the likes of firpo were no pillow fisted fighter.

    I don't think you could said the same thing about earnie......

    A Very short, but absolute war and i think Demspey would have imposed his will and won. He was faster, meaner and a far better finisher with a better chin.

    Shavers is extremely limited, he wouldn't come close to beating peak Dempsey.

    It would be a war while it lasted I fancy Dempsey in this fight. mean spirited and a finisher Shavers a little to limited to keep Jack off him.

    Dempsey wins, pretty sure of it. Shavers is a monster puncher of course but Dempsey has more attributes than just his punch. Dempsey is better than Bob Stallings, is what I'm saying.

    Yeah but Dempsey could take a bit of a beating. Of course with the right shot the Acorn could put him out of commission, I'm under no illusion he couldn't.

    Laughable. Ernie was stopped many times. Dempsey in a lopsided early ko and itś never close.
