But i've absolutley no interest in your pick, just the how.

I'm assuming most people will pick Dempsey. Why? Let's hear about the mechanics of how he would go about beating Briggs.

How do you see the first round going? Site Demsepy's ability and why it would be affective against the bigger Briggs.

If you are picking Briggs please justify what makes THIS era so much stronger than THAT era (which I think would be implied) as well as telling us about the fight mechanics and how you see it going.

    Dempsey TKO1 Briggs

Briggs has no stamina and reduced speed. He tires too quickly, throws too few punches, and holds his hands too low to be able to last long against Jack Dempsey. Dempsey would have no fear and would swarm Briggs early. Briggs couldn't handle to pace set by Jack and would hit by combination after combination. Now if this is the 1990s Briggs, he could last a few rounds.

This could actually be fun while it lasted. the briggs who fought lewis had fast hands, a solid chin and great size. he´d dwarf dempsey.

i could envision a dempsey vs firpo kind of fight with dempsey taking him out in three.

a prime Briggs would give him troubles with his hard and quite fast punches

Briggs had some awesome power, but Dempsey most likely hit as hard if not much harder according to historians, it would be like the Firpo bout or very close to it, Dempsey and fighters in his time would too hard and too tough for later guys, especially when your talking the best, Briggs all the way around can't compare to dempsey, Power is the only category he can compete in, so unless he gets lucky and I doubt it in 1 fight, he loses, in 10 fights he might get lucky in a couple that's it, Dempsey has great defesnse, is Fast, quick, with power and toughness, Wins almost everytime 80% at least

If Dempsey chooses a firefight, he most likely gets destroyed. Dempsey didn't hit as hard as Lewis, he just hit on more compliant targets. Prime Briggs is not terribly compliant.

If Dempsey can drag Shannon into deep waters, then he has a chance to finish him. Briggs' output diminishes with rounds and Jack can feast.

The problem for Dempsey is that he loved to start fast and go for broke. I think that is a recipe for disaster.
