Forget names? This is a match-up between two fighters. Forget the eras they fought in an just look at the fighters. Dempsey is superior is every way except for size, and even then, Dempsey preffered fighting big, slow fighters like Golota.

Dempsey would crush Golota similar to the way he destroyed Jess Willard, although I doubt Golota lasts as long. He was more skilled than Willard, certainly, but nowhere near as physically or mentally tough.

Golota folds like an accordian as soon as Dempsey charges at him and gets his first hard punches in. Similar to the way he folded against Tyson, Lewis, and Brewster.

    Dempsey KO 1

    Dear Zakman
    kind regards
    I agree with your analysis.
Golota wouldn't be able to stop an advancing Dempsey, who would be on his case from the very start.
Golota's penetrating jab would be rendered useless as Dempsey would catch him off guard quickly.
It would be a replay of this match.

Golota's biggest weakness is his inability to stop an a formidable advance.
Dempsey was the master of the formidable advance.
    yours thankfully

A long time ago my wife worked with a girl by the name of Barbara McMillan
and shared an apartment with her in Westwood (a suburb of Los Angeles). One morning at work a man came in and said he would like to see his daughter
Barbara. It was Jack Dempsey. My wife had the privelege of going to dinner with them and said a lot of nice things about him but the one thing that stood out was his hands. He had the largest hands of anyone she had ever known.
They completely wrapped around hers and more so. She could not take her eyes off of them. He noticed and said "they're kinda big aren't they? He laughed and said "I used to get teased about them in school growing up and got into many brawls because of them." He laughed and then said "I was undefeated and it's what got me interested in fighting". He was quita a character and could not have been more gracious.
In the ring he was a killer.
