Instead of scrapping with Tyson on 11/9/1996, a fully trained and ready Dempsey falls through a time warp from 1919 and replaces Tyson against Holyfield. Could Holyfield defeat Dempsey?

Evander is too durable, big, complete with too high a workrate. I think he stops Jack around the eighth

Peak Holyfield around 1991 wouldn’t even beat Dempsey.

Dont think shameless roid abuse wins him anything here - this is not half-a-round-at-a-time Tyson he’s in with. & if Holyfield wants to fall back on his other frequent mode of cheating - in the ring - he will find his opponent the very willing type.

Agree, I like Holy but Tyson was head-butted relentlessly in fact I just rewatched both fights today and actually felt for Tyson, Mills Lane dropped the ball as headbutt after headbutt landed on Tyson. On another note Holyfields will always be a hard fight for Tyson no matter what it was a style that matched up well with Mike's style.

As far as steroids well Tyson would trim down from 280-300 lbs at times to make 222/218 but Holyfields was a naturally slim guy who gained a lot of muscle to hit 218 which is difficult to do naturally, of the 2 Holyfields used more PEDs and Tyson could have been natural. When I trimmed down from 240 to 205 and I looked jacked eating once a day so I can see Tyson hitting a solid 220 without sauce

Jack was quick on his feet and had great lateral movement, side stepping & the likes, but Holyfield is certainly superior with overall movement. Jack only has better defensive body movement.

Both could keep the pace, conserve energy, switch styles through their fights (Holyfield better in that area). Holyfield does have a major ring IQ advantage no less,
However Jack was a better infighter, hit harder with more variety, and had a better chin.

All in all? I am 3/5 in favor of Jack. I think Holyfield would lead on points until he doesn't. Jack might amp it up and take a few rounds, but catches up to Evander in the 10th.

Under 1910's rules, Jack's chances rise significantly.

If Tyson was coming down from 280lbs it’s because he had no discipline on one occasion he broke all the mirrors in a gym because he got too fat and didn’t want to look at himself.

This would be a banger, I give Holyfield a slight edge in that I think he would keep it tighter/more composed and better accuracy/timing especially with counters regardless of how wild the brawl got, whereas Dempsey could get a bit sloppy at times, 96 Holyfield would also have a huge advantage in strength

Don’t think shameless glove loading wins Jack anything here. This is not a -three-year-retired-rodeo-star he’s in with here. If Jack wants to slug at close range he will find his opponent the very willing type

Also the very dead type. Going toe to toe with Dempsey is suicide.

Death for who ? A 37 year old 3 year retired Jess Willard ? Billy Miske? Georges Carpentier ? Dempsey needed help getting back into the ring after the very crude Luis Firpo sent him flying out of it

That will be vastly to Dempsey’s advantage.
