Just starting to learn about Jack... not educated enough to comment.

Jack is a bad matchup for Floyd due to his durability, explosivity, speed and power. I don’t think Floyd lasts that much longer than he did against Liston

This could go either way. Floyd was more defensively responsible and faster. Jack was a better infighter, better at the rough stuff, hit hard with both hands. Jack never beat any heavy as good Floyd. Floyd probably beat Quarry which is pretty much in Jack's league head-to-head.

I am sitting solidly on the fence here.

Floyd, outside of arguably Tunney and prime Sharkey, would be the best opponent Dempsey faced. And IMO, Floyd is better than Tunney and Sharkey, but I can see arguments saying otherwise. But I think Dempsey would stop Patterson, but Patterson gives him problems and maybe drops Dempsey.

On the other hand, I think Dempsey was better than Quarry (who Patterson was robbed against). Dempsey by mid round KO is my thought.

I can see Patterson dropping Jack as well, but Dempsey was rarely stopped outside of an early fight with Flynn. Brennan is probably a harder puncher than Patterson, and holds up on film

1919 Dempsey inside 3, Patterson would crap his pants on the way to ring.

Patterson isn't an ambling Willard. Patterson was an Olympic champion that had RJJ levels of speed coupled with ATG combination punching abilities with punching power that allowed him to hit harder than significantly larger men. Patterson at 185-190 pounds likely hit harder than big men like Ali, Holmes, Thomas etc.

I pick Dempsey by KO, but Patterson was better than Carpentier, Brennan, Miske and company.

    Hi Buddy.
Whilst I might be in agreement about the outcome, I am not with you on Patterson " crapping his pants " he was ( as are most boxers ) a brave and fearless fighter, dont let all you read about him avoiding Liston as him being afraid, moreover it was more Cus D'Amato that vetoed the fight more than Floyd being scared, also he climbed off the canvas numerous times to continue fighting over his career, that is not the trait of a coward, furthermore he was a thoroughly decent man who has been much maligned over the decades, most of it unwarranted, so please show some respect, not just to Patterson, but to all fighters that climb the three steps, it takes a special type of courage, and Patterson had such.
That said, it's your opinion and you are welcome to it.

Well said Mike. Patterson was always courageous, it was his confidence that was sorely lacking unfortunately.

I think this is a competitive fight. I like Jack inside 10 rounds and Patterson to get the decision if he hears the final bell.

Two of the more exciting heavyweights of all time pitted against each other. I have to go with Dempsey by decision because he was stronger and more vicious. Plenty of action in this matchup. A real crowd pleaser.

I agree with Dempsey being the winner but this doesn't make it the distance imo.

I have to go with Jack Dempsey also, but I do agree that if it goes the distance Floyd has an excellent chance of out pointing him.
