As far as I could see, not one of those supplied fight reports for Dempsey vs Brennan 2 suggested that Brennan was winning the fight prior to the KO. Rather, they accented on the surprising degree of Brennan’s performance relative to that of Dempsey’s. A performance that was much better than expected.

Likely it was a surprise in view of Dempsey’s well upheld abilities in a number of fights, over several years, prior to - which included, and certainly not least, his dominating 6th round KO of one Bill Brennan in their first match.

I mean, Dempsey did fight Brennan twice - both bouts being relevant in measuring Jack up against Bill - and while not an excuse, there is suggestion that Dempsey was less than ideally prepared for their second fight.

That alleged lack of preparedness might explain why Dempsey found Brennan tougher the second time around unless an argument can be posited that Brennan somehow improved since their first fight.

Of course you cant find that Brown post because I never said it.

I did "slag" off James R. Fair. Would you care to defend his book in detail? Want to tell me why you think I shouldnt have taken issue with a book that was so fictitious it was pulled from the stands under threat of a lawsuit from the family? No? Didnt think so. Because if youve read Fair's book, which I doubt, you wouldnt have expertise to be able to articulate one way or the other its merits. So, yeah, odd hill to die on there.

Great in finding a picture of Marciano with his bridge work that was taken three years AFTER the Louis fight. Now find me one that was taken BEFORE the fight which proves he had bridgework before Louis.

And finally, no, I dont care what an old fool who has nothing but his hero worship to back him up thinks of me.

Yeah you said it, but it's of no matter, what's significant is you denied saying it.
I know when the photo was taken I dated it 1954,you can also see the scar on his nose from the Charles fight.

The original photo that led you to believe Louis had jabbed Marciano's front teeth out was taken the morning after the fight.
Why you cannot bring yourself to accept Rocky had bridge work is beyond me? It must be the possibility that you were mistaken that eats away at you?

I didn't say you shouldn't slag off Fair's book I just commented that you did so.
I've never seen a positive, complimentary post from you about a single poster in the 17 years I have been here. You have to wonder why you continue to cast your pearls of wisdom before us lowly swine?

Not having false teeth I can only suggest that when anyone is having their photo taken they would ensure their false teeth are in place?
Here is a request from this "Old Fool ,"to the exalted author of Harry Greb.
PRODUCE ONE FIGHT REPORT OF THE LOUIS V MARCIANO FIGHT THAT MENTIONS LOUIS KNOCKING OUT MARCIANO'S TEETH.
Now,apart from a requested fight report on the Louis bout, which I do not expect to see.I don't think there is any thing more to cover, so no point in continuing it must be boring for others and its sure getting tedious for me?
Hero Worship? You are definitely unique in that respect, for you are your own hero!
Enjoy your day ,you are a furniture salesman yes? I hope you manage to sell a couple of three piece suites.

There seems to be a huge double standard when it comes to matches with old time heavies. In the Foreman vs Usyk thread people were arguing that Usyks cruiserweight opponents were irrelevant to a fight with Foreman due to having to make the cruiserweight limit yet there are people claiming the even smaller Dempsey can beat Foreman.

If Dempsey could potentially beat Foreman than what is the logic in ruling out larger men like Breidis and Gassiev?

I did deny because I didnt say it and you clearly cant prove I said it so either you are making it up (which you do all the time) or your senility is once again getting the better of you.

Which proves **** all in regards to his fight with Louis.

Exactly. It was taken after the Louis fight. Not before. Show me a photo of him with no teeth before the fight. Dont show me a photo of him wearing bridge work taken three years after the Louis fight and argue it proves he had bridgework BEFORE the Louis fight. What kind of a ****wit are you to make such goofy argument?

I accept that he had bridgework AFTER he fought Louis. Ive never denied it. Nice strawman argument you are attempting to build.

Honestly the only time I think about Marciano's teeth is when you bring it up. Which begs the question of who is being eaten up by what?

Then WTF does Fair's book have to do with morons such as yourself other than the fact that you both are/were consistently wrong? Im not here to kiss your ass mcvey Im here to discuss boxing. If anyone comes here to get their ego boosted by compliments from people they dont know and will never meet then a pity them and you in particular. I dont expect that from anyone and they shouldnt expect it from me. However, when I see someone posting nonsense, as you frequently do, then I will point it out. When such people, like yourself, get their panties in a twist and want to start something you know damn well I will be there to finish it. Thats when someone like yourself with a fragile ego gets hurt and starts crying about how they never get complimented by me.

Some people can be educated. You are not one of them. You already know everything. Did you ever consider that I dont give two shits about you and that when Im posting on a subject I have no thoughts in regards to you other than the occasional pleasure I take in pointing out your ignorance?

Who the **** are you kidding. You are in your seventies and were born and raised in Britain, a country famous for its horrifically bad teeth, particularly when you were growing up.

Produce one fight report that says he didnt.

You are the one denying that photos of Marciano with his teeth knocked out immediately after the Louis fight are a result of the Louis fight. I think the burden of proof is on you.

A furniture salesman? LOL. Where do you come up with this ****? Talk about grasping at straws... You have become so predictable its monotonous. You have two settings: 1. Post bull**** that you have no idea of its validity as gospel and then go on the defensive when someone calls you out on it and 2. Cast yourself as a the defender of the faith of boxing's bull**** mythos.

Thank you for your affectionate and polite response.
I don't require compliments from you I was remarking that I 've never seen you make a positive post about ANY other poster in the 17 years I've been here.
Care to give some examples of my defending myths about Dempsey or are they all in your swollen head?
Are you no longer flogging furniture?
No you originally stated Louis knocked out Marciano's teeth so the onus is on YOU to prove it.
Louis, in his auto biography certainly never mentioned it and neither did Marciano.
Nor did two biographers of Marciano,Skehan and Stanton ever mention Marciano losing any teeth in the Louis fight.Neither can blood be seen coming from Rocky's mouth during their fight.
I'd like to say you're a nice guy but why lie?
We both know what you are and lets leave it at that.
So much hate ,venom, and sheer mean spirited spite, in such a little man,I wonder how you find room for it all?

Now you can have another rant if you wish, the last word is yours.

I'll no doubt read your next post when Greb or Dempsey's name appears
    in a thread.

Yes I have all my own teeth ,what is so incredible about that?

    Stay healthy.Pierce Egan.

    Foreman by tko 2.

this is a bad match up for Jack. He isn’t Ali who can use his height to stay away. He will have to take big punches from Foreman.

he could do more damage than Frazier because he is a faster and better two handed hitter but he still gets outgunned here.

So what posters took one side in the first debate and then went the opposite in the second?

Certainly marching into George's big guns has always been a recipe for disaster.

Foreman had great accuracy actually. He would quite frequently land on very vulnerable spots such as the temple, bridge of the nose, solar plexus, kidney, right under the jaw, etc. His knockouts could be quite frightening because he was so accurate putting a tremendous amount of force into a sensitive spot on the opponent. They didn't know what hit them. What Foreman lacked in hand speed, he made up for with great timing and accuracy. He only swung wide when his opponent was badly hurt and ready to go putting everything into his shots.

A good example of his accuracy can be seen against Cooney.

That was a pretty crazy KO. Foreman looked like he had just clocked in, took a swig of coffee, and went about assassinating someone in broad daylight. Completely relaxed and landing brutal shots to poor Cooney's jaw and temple. Foreman could be very sneaky when he felt like it drawing his opponent in and then suddenly exploding.

As far as I can tell the Foreman vs Dempsey threads are meant to be serious debates and are not troll threads. But people feel Foreman steamrolling the guys Usyk fought at cruiserweight is a foregone conclusion somehow. Nostalgia aside that doesn't make much sense. A slightly pre prime Dempsey was kod by Jim Flynn and at his peak lost to Willie Meehan and was dropped and badly hurt by Firpo. We don't have anything equivalent with Breidis or Gassiev.

Moreover 70s heavyweights were approximately the size of today's cruiserweights. Norton, Lyle, Frazier were they around today could have made cruiserweight. Frazier was 205 when he beat Ali, Norton 210 that's within a few pounds of what Usyk weighed at cruiserweight. Ali when he beat them in rematches was only 212.

Old Foreman had more accuracy. His punches were so powerful that he didn't need to be as precise. You can't compare his accuracy to that of someone like Gene Tunney though

Totally agree Cob. Foreman’s accuracy in his prime is quite underrated - though recognised by several on this board, including yourself.

I’ve seen faster handed fighters, who wouldn’t need to accent as much on timing due to their speed, not hit as accurately as George did at best..

Even Ali, for all his speed, had difficulty nailing Frazier exactly on the sweet spots.

That’s not confusing immense power with accuracy either - Foreman could hit opponents anywhere and hurt them but you can actually see Foreman hitting the vital spots as you said.

He couldn’t miss Norton with those final, fully committed and devastating punches - and notably, he was still able to catch a falling Norton with his final punch, a clean and flush left hook.
