Jack Dempsey vs Harold Johnson primes

It's not just the Smith fight that raises concerns for Johnson - in his younger years (what would be considered his physical prime), he had a bad habit of pulling straight back against taller/rangier opponents & getting caught on the end of their punches. I think Johnson from around the time of the Doug Jones fight was actually an improved technician w/ tighter defense compared to his younger self, even if he'd lost a touch of speed in his legs:

Johnson was good at mid range jabbing and countering, Dempsey would be on him like butter on toast. He’s not holding up to Dempsey’s savage attacks.
