I'd favor Toney, but Dempsey was a tough sonofabitch.

What saved Tunney was his classic all time boxing skills and foot movement. Toney fought flat footed and would be eaten alive by Dempseys speed and all time punching power. Huge body attack followed by head shots...Toney does not last 5 rounds.

Seriously?!, Dempsey didn't mind fighting coloured fighters he sparred with them and fought many many many before he met his manager kearns, Kearns did not let him fight black fighters because he did not want the title to go to a black man and have another jack johnson situation causing riots ect....

Dempsey way too fast and powerful and Toney would be right in front of him. One shot from Dempsey could end the fight at any time. Also....Dempsey was rated as the greatest hwt champion for many decades. Toney is not rated as anything as a hwt.

Dempsey fought John Lester Johnson, got his ribs broke and his lilly white ass beat, and avoided black fighters like some sort of plague afterward, even when they were his number one contender for 5 years.

Yeah, I guess I am serious.

Toney and pretty easily. He doesnt get anough credit. He beat a huge punching massive man in sam peter, another big punching huge guy in rahman. Toney would school Jack an i'm not Dempsey hater.

Toney can get a little overrated. Great talent and great skills, but CW and above he was nothing sensational. I think he lacks the discipline and is too stationary to outpoint Dempsey. He'll get outworked.

Nothing special crusier and above? Why did he take out the best cruiser in the world undefeated Jirov. Beat samuel peter. beat rahman, beat ruiz. More like underrated. He should have been champion .

Since when is Dempsey an outside fighter? Toney won't have to look for him at all. Dempsey will just get countered to death. Demps would have a somewhat better chance in those tiny 5 ounce gloves, but Toney's power would be considerably upped as well.

In terms of resumes, Toney's wins over Ruiz and old Holy are better than anything on Dempsey's resume.

    Dempsey would beat Toney up.
Toney was not much good above middle or super-middle, even with the boat load of steroids he was taking. The credit his gets is laughable. It's always true in boxing that a big mouth can go a long way in building a reputation.
