Well if Jack comes out fast and punches himself out on the ever tricky Young, hmmm. Jimmy had Foreman totally stoked out late and even dropped him. I'd say your prediction isn't without merit!
Gotta love the Austalian humor. In all seriousness, i see this one going to a draw. Young will win most of the rounds with his master boxery (a bigger version of Tunney) but considering he's boring, the judges will probably not want to grant him a victory as they did against Ali, Shavers II and arguably Norton. One interesting thing i wonder, considering he's fighting Dempsey, would Jimmy's head be pushed back into the ring by ringsiders if he sticks it through the ropes? Or would that only apply when Dempsey is knocked , i mean pushed, out of the ring?
I used to think you were an objective poster but this proves beyonf a doubt you are a hater , great job, keep it up :good
Why wouldn't Young have a chance? It's not as if Dempsey looked particularly good against Gibbons or Tunney. He'd have a fight on his hands with an octopus like Young.
Sure he'd have a chance but where does Fripo come in all of this? Young is a better boxer but not that kind of hitter. His posts are just too biased
Dempsey would have to catch young before his punching abilities would even come into play. By the time Jack was 2 or 3 years into his reign he was no longer accustomed to fighting men who were as mobile or technically sound as Young, not to mention black. Young showed during the 70's that he could hang in there with big punchers like Foreman, Shavers and Norton. He would have outboxed Dempsey, or at least during his title years.
Relax Dmt! The Firpo thing was just a joke. :yep Seriously, why does picking Young over Dempsey make me a hater? I'm not using it's a clear-cut win for Young.... but let's be honest here. 1. Young was a master boxer 2. Dempsey never showed he could beat a 210+lb master boxer, in fact, a lightheavyweight Tunney toyed with him twice and knocked him down. Gibbons went the distance and was a lightheavyweight too. Sharkey who had little power like Young but a much lesser chin, gave him plenty of trouble too. 3. Boxers always fare best against punchers. Young, the boxer, Dempsey, the puncher. 4. Young did magnificant against other punchers, i.e. Shavers, Foreman, Lyle. 5. Young has a great chin in case his defense doesn't do it. He was only stopped once early in his career by Shavers, one of the hardest punchers ever who had over 50 fights, when Young had little over 10 (he set things straight in the rematch although the judges thought otherwise).
I do not dismiss Youngs chances at all. Frankly I would give him a better chance than I would give Joe Frazier here.
