Enough of the filth already, someone picking Young for a draw doesn't mean one has to dive into the gutter and go all childish.
Maybe Dempsey raped someone in your family, which is why we are blessed with your miserable presents today.
Tough one to call. Young would definitely pose problems for Dempsey, but Dempsey was a different type fighter than Foreman, who had all that mass, and tended to wear himself out when not successful in landing his big shots. Dempsey, I believe, was more resourceful, and would have perhaps beaten Young much like he did Tommy Gibbons in '21 (or was it '22?) I like the late Jimmy Young very much, and I appreciate the way he did his defensive magic against those big punchers that he fought, and who knows, maybe he would have frustrated Dempsey a little too much, and would have won a dull decision, but both men hypothetically at their best, I'd have to go with Dempsey by a very close decision.
BIG DEE HERE= Young has a chance but not a good one as I think Dempsey would trap Young into a corner and KO him. The thing that has absolutely been missed by the historians and the general fan about the Dempsey vs Gibbons fight is that Dempsey and Kerns had been paid for the fight but the only way out of the town was the train that wasn`t to leave untill 15 mins after the end of the 15 rds. If Dempsey had KOed Gibbons quickly they would have had to stay around a town full of very unhappy people that had gotten really screwed badly as nobody showed up for the damn fight. I have always thought that Dempsey carried Gibbons so they could go from the ring to the train and make their getaway with the cash. It makes all the sense in the world especially if you study Dempsey`s actions in the fight he looks like he`s trying to go the distance and not for a KO. DEMPSEY KO 5 OVER YOUNG AND MAYBE A 1ST RD KO IF HE JUMPS ALL OVER YOUNG AT THE GET-GO
No, i'd prolly pick Jimmy by UD. Yeah, over 12 if Foreman got cute and tried to box and conserve stamina i could see Jimmy outpointing him. Say about 118-111, 116-112 and 115-114 given the variation in the way judges score.
I think Youngs movement and fast counterpunching would cause Jack some problems, but Dempseys power would cause Jimmy to cover up a lot more than punch, and move more than fight....Dempsey by UD
Basically i do not see how anyone says Foreman could not beat a skilled boxer because Young beat him. The younger Foreman would not try to box but trap young and stop him. Very few, if any hw, had a chin like Ali and could take that kind of punishment. Young, as good as he was, would not beat a younger Foreman. Although Young would beat the 90's Foreman.
The story was that Foreman was attempting to fight at a more steady pace due to his gassing out vs Ali in Zaire. You know i ponder whether Young would have definitely beat 90's Foreman. He'd definitely smartened up. Foreman all but had Young out and with a bit of luck he would have stopped him, but hey, that's boxing.
