Which slippery boxers did Dempsey blast away in a few rounds? Who ever blasted Young out in a few rounds? Gibbons neutralised Dempsey pretty well, Young goes one better and wins a decision.

Shavers and Cooney blasted him out, and Dempsey is a much better puncher. More accuracy, handspeed and viciousness

Dempsey has blasted out outboxers before, including Levinsky, Miske, etc.

Dempsey was having an off night against Gibbons, and besides, Gibbons is an ATG fighter that has an underrated resume, which includes a win over Greb. Quoth the boxrec: "Dempsey lacked his usual sharpness and power"

Dempsey in one or two rounds. Jack was not the menacung but somewhat slow stalker that Forenan, Lyle and Shavers were. He was fast, mobile and deadly. No contest, imho.

Yeah Dempsey had an off night when he fought a talented boxer who was able to tie him up and neutralise him. Miske drew with Dempsey in one of their non-title bouts and lasted the distance in the other too. He was a sick man the only time Jack KO'd him.

I'm sure Dempsey would also KO the 10 fight novice Young who lost to Shavers. Then again Young would make the Tunney version of Dempsey look stupid. Even when Young was old and shot no one managed to knock him out. He was stopped on a cut against Cooney.

If out of prime performances are being included then throw in Tunney, Sharkey and Meehan too. How many rounds did Dempsey win against those three? Who of them did he blast out? Maybe Jack takes a decision on activity and aggression but I find the idea of him just wading through a skilled and very slippery guy like Young in a few rounds ridiculous in light of his struggles with pretty much every good boxer he faced. If Bill Brennan can make you look ordinary, you're going to have all kinds of fits against Young.

This is how i see it. The inactive celebrity version doesnt have much chance unless he catches young with a powerful combination and makes sure not to let hin off the hook. Young is like 20 lbs heavier than gene tunny and had a better chin plus the benefit of 50 years of boxing knowledge and footage available.

Prime dempsey likely cuts off the ring and wears him down within 8 rounds but even then it wouldn't be easy. Dempsey would have to keep his cool, pick his shots carefully and not waste his stamina because young was safety 1st and wouldnt engage unless he had to.

Young would lose to 90s Foreman. It would go similar to his ko over Adilson Rodrigues.

Dempsey stops him late but doesn't have the easy of fight s due to Young s style. Would take about 10 rounds for Jack to work away at him ,with body and head shots combined .

Do you think Dempsey would have KO'd Gibbons in 1921? Dempsey's ring rust was surely balanced out by him facing a 13lbs lighter challenger who had been thrashed by a middleweight the previous year.

In 1921, yes I think he would have stopped Gibbons, something only Gene Tunney managed at the very end of Gibbons career.

Well, I disagree. I don't think Dempsey was that much better two years earlier and Gibbons would use the same spoiling tactics in '21 as he used in '23. He'd always be tough for Dempsey to KO no matter when they fought.
