Jack Dempsey vs Joe Frazier, primes

Frazier battles his way to a very close UD. Both men getting hurt, with Dempsey seriously hurting Frazier at one point in the fight.

 

I think Jack would take advantage of Joe's slow starting and deck him early, but Frazier being as tough as he was would survive and start out hooking Dempsey by the 4th round or so, and force a stoppage around 8th or 9th round.

 

JOE BY KO , dempsey like always starts fast but joe is just a better all round slugger and wears a tired dempsey down for a late stoppage

I like Jack but this is a tough battle but Jack had the harder and heavier hands

 

190+ pound Dempsey never came close to fighting an aggressive unit such as 209 pound Frazier... But Frazier had a couple of rumbles with underrated Oscar Bonavena to go along with resume.....

I think Frazier gets tagged by Demps hard and early, but gets into a groove after 4 rds and begins to smoke....

If Demps fails to park Frazier within 5 rds, Frazier takes control and either stops Demps late or wins the decision.....

Frazier wins late in the fight. I believe he would wear him down eventually.

 

Jack takes him out inside 5rds,better puncher, more versatile ,two fisted he wins this one.imo.

 

No heavyweight who ever lived beats Jack Dempsey in trench warfare.That was his game. If he is to lose it would be a Louis,or an Ali,or a Tunney...Louis,maybe because of his
great punching combinations that were never surpassed, or less likely, an Ali,or Tunney,
who had the wheels to scoot out of danger when hurt. He would beat Joe Frazier because
a prime Dempsey was more manoeuverable,and a better right hand puncher also.
Of course an early Mike Tyson,because of his power in the early rounds and his great punching speed,would pose a threat to all of them...But Dempsey 8-5 over the great Joe Frazier who I saw in the FOTC in 1971,MSG. Dempsey in his prime had the wheels to
outspeed Joe Frazier when the need required....

 

It's a tale of two fights ... Dempsey has a shot of jumping out on Frazier early and catching him because of his explosive out of the gate speed. He was a lightning starter and his power is wthout question ... it is not out of the question to imagine him finishing what a Bonavena started. However if Frazier is not caught early I favor him to wear Dempsey out and stop him after eight or so .. A gun to my head I'd pick Frazier because he is far more proven to me but this one I'd rather watch than pick ...

 

Yes Frazier was a machine,as I saw beat Ali in 1971. True. And I even saw Joe in the Olympics in the 1964 trials losing to big Buster Mathis. I loved Joe Frazier. This being said,he would in Dempsey facing a more versatile fighter,
with a better right hand than Joe,and Dempsey kod, whoever he could hit, and hit Frazier , Dempsey would. Just watch a clipo of Dempsey in the second round of the Firpo fight where virtually in a clinch,Dempsey frees his left hand
and with a series of Gatling gun left hook-uppercuts, that I or ANYONE never seen before tears the giant Firpo apart, preparing for the one-two punch ko a few moments later..This is the prime Dempsey who was voted the best fighter
in the two pools in the 50s and 60s. NO ONE, but NO ONE, beats this panther in the trenches. Yancey check this 2nd rd clip.
