People’s hearts say Frazier, and their heads say Dempsey.

i am a big dempsey fan but i don´t know, frazier was more modern, more compact, maybe even stronger, and maybe even hits harder, i think that 71 frazier beats the dempsey that destroyed willard. in a hard fight

Dempsey the MUCH greater fighter. Much more skilled. Threw more compact punches, better two handed puncher, better at infighting, better defense, faster. Some who saw them both rate Dempseys power over that of Louis and Marciano. The guy was a killer puncher.

    "Upset"?

Frazier would punch Dempsey's lights out.

    5 rounds.

    "No contest", huh?

Dempsey would be face down on the canvas in 5. Maybe less.

I like Frazier's hand speed and upper body movement to fluster Dempsey, making it possible to land some of those big left hooks.. Joe isn't going to be there to easily be hit the way that Willard and Firpo was

Maybe should Joe have stood over opponents and hit them with loaded gloves as they tried to get up.

He would have had more "clean" KOs and you would have been more impressed.

It would have been a win-win. :good

I don't know about actual " knockouts." But he did stop Jerry Quarry, Jimmy Ellis and Buster Mathis who I think would have all had a presence in Dempsey's era.

McVey has a thing for 10 count, official KOs.

Does anybody think that Ellis and Mathis would not have been 10 count KOs in short order had the fights not been stopped? Ramos also.

Wasn't Joe's fault the fights were stopped before he could put them down for an official 10 count.

Fights were allowed to be carried on further back in the Dempsey era, therefore 10 counts KOs were more likely to happen.

I agree with each statement that you made here, the other thing to add to it was that Dempsey was aloud to stand over fallen opponents and beat them the moment they regained their footing
