Again with this **** about Dempsey had "loaded" gloves against Willard. It is so discredited your bull agenda, as Nat fleischer and corner men from Willards corner were in Dempseys dressing room watching his hands being taped and even YOU can see film of Dempsey entering the ring without any gloves, EVEN YOU. You sir can utter your own opinions, but NOT YOUR OWN "FACTS"...What is this form coming to ?
You have a thing for telling lies about loaded gloves don't you. Mathis and Quarry were on their feet at the finish, Ellis was retired on his stool ,stop with the BS.
There are basically two ways to beat Dempsey. You either prevent most of his punches from hitting you, or you get him before he gets you. If your plan involves going toe to toe with him, and taking what he throws at you for a number of rounds, you are going to lose.
I would think that you of all people woi5ld be reluctant to use such a generalizatipn here given that nobody as Great or accomplished as a prime Joe Frazier ever went toe to toe with Dempsey...
This is true enough, but Dempsey is a much faster starter, and a much better finisher. The chances are that he gets Frazier, before Frazier gets him. Obviously we cant say what would happen, but I think a scenario where Frazier weathers the early storm to assert himself late, is highly unlikely.
Dempsey isn't good enough to give up 20 pounds of weight against Frazier. Very few are. Give Dempsey time to bulk up to a comparable weight and I say he's still the quicker man, definitely the harder puncher and would get the job done within 5.
Seems like that line of argument would also provide a good basis for favoring Tua against Frazier... :think
It would on the face of it, but there would be a number of factors to counter it. Notably Tuas failure to replicate his finishing prowess against the better fighters of the era.
Dempsey had weighed in at times during his career at or around 200. Some would say he was just as powerful at that weight.
Dempsey at 185-190 destroys prime Frazier at 205. 15-20 pounds would be meaningless. Dempseys quick start combined with Frazier not smoking until round five spells early doom. In close Dempsey would shine as he would pile drive shots up the middle while Joe tended to rely on the hook to the side. Dempsey would be inside Fraziers punches twisting to the left and right as he pumps devastating punches to body then head.
