My argument is that we are matching an attrition based finisher, against a finisher in the more conventional sense, and the latter is likely to lower the curtain fist.
Frazier would've destroyed Dempsey. A great big man vs a man more of legend, old timers nostalgia and racism then of substance. What little film of him to me says almost any decent heavy from the 1940 on up would've beaten him (same opnion on J.Johnson).
Frazier would have no difficulty finding Dempseys chin. No man can take that left hook clean on the chin and Jack would be eating them up. The skill and technique of Frazier didn't exist in those times. Jack still had the style of the Broughton rules era
Let's not act like Frazier was some sort of one shot knockout artist. Dempsey also had a pretty good defense.
After looking at some more footage, taking into account glove sizes etc i'm going to take Frazier by stoppage. Dempsey would force smoke to turn into fire pretty quickly (Frazier has plenty of early stoppages) and we'd see a short but brutal fight. Dempsey was no Tyson defensively, Frazier TKO/KO in 2-4.
You people either need glasses or you just do not understand what you are looking at. Dempsey was the FAR more skilled fight. Not close. As one example. Look at the left hook by Frazier that knocked Ali down. Now look at the left hook Dempsey used to ko Sharkey and to nearly ko Tunney. THATS the way to throw a left hook. Short and within the plane of your shoulders. Textbook perfect. Now look at the Frazier hook....,a wide looping affair. NOT the way to throw a left hook. Now that's just ONE of many technical attributes Dempsey was superior to Joe Frazier. Fraziers best weapon pales in comparison to that same punch throw by Dempsey. We can then add to the list coordination with left and right hand punching, defense, feinting, slipping, bobbing and weaving, right hand punching power, infighting. Again it's not close people.
You will not get stepped on at all Edward. The fact is interpretations mean nothing, the word " finish " is self explanatory, and Foreman finished more fights by rendering the other guy incapable than Jack Dempsey, and possibly any other Heavyweight ever. That entitles him to be called a " finisher " in any mans language. Then again some people ( janitor for instance ) simply can't comprehend what finish means.
Nothing is understandable to a moron like you. :rofl:rofl Are you by chance h^mo s"xual? Because you seem obsessed with c*cks and rectums.
I don't see why you are so obsessed with defending another user on this forum....Unless you're an ALT! :hi:
Dempsey had problems with movers and technical fighters precisely like Tunney. I still say he would have beat Tunney prime for prime and Dempsey would have beat Tunney in the rematch had the long count not taken place but that's another argument I don't want to talk about right now. Frazier wasn't a boxer nor technically sound. He had no right hand, which was Dempsey's only weakness when it came to punches, a come forward style so Dempsey wouldn't have to chase him, and a susceptibility to uppercuts which Dempsey would exploit. Stylistically a terrible match up for Joe. Dempsey thrived on come forward fighters. Nobody could out punch Dempsey except perhaps Marciano and that is even debatable.
