IDK. Was Flynn a more sophisticated slugger than Frazier? Since he didn't just knock Dempsey down he put him out.

His power and speed is not built on myth.

I like Dempsey here, Frazier was sometimes a slow starter and not the most durable.

Was Firpo, perhaps the least skilled filmed heavyweight challenger, decking him a fluke?

Not at all. He had b@lls and a wide right hand. He hated to train. He was too cheap to hire a trainer. He had some good management and ballyhoo and liked to make a dollar.

But Frazier fought Bonevena in his 12th pro fight and won anyway yet cameback to beat Oscar again a 2nd time. He wasn't hurt or close to being dropped in that fight. Perhaps the 1st Frazier/Bonevena fight was a fluke?

Mostly myth. Dempsey had some talent but he was also well managed. He had one of the poorest heavyweight reigns in history. He doesn't deserved to be mentioned with Frazier really. Just the level of comp alone.

Firpo was awful. Could he have sparred in Frazier`s camp? IMO he would have been sent home early due to not giving the champ any quality work. Joe would have been laughing.

Dempsey takes the early rounds and may even get the fight stopped.

Once Frazier gets going, it will be a war and I think its even .

Dempsey likely stops Frazier late. Dempsey has incredible movement and could rely on that if he ever got in trouble, he could pick the times to battle and with his power would wear Frazier down. This fight is a dream matchup.

I think Frazier is just a little to reliant on his hook, and Dempsey has to many weapons and tactics to use against him.

    I favor Dempsey here.

This kind of fight tends to come down to who gets off he starting blocks quickest.

That is obviously going to be Dempsey.

I just can't imagine anybody weathering Dempsey's early onslaught, based on having a good chin alone.

I still think it's interesting that Dempsey got dropped out of the ring by a rank amateur.

How would you rate Fireman Flynn to Frazier?
