I have the film but for whatever reason the KO isn't shown. Uzcudun is suddenly seen knocked down on the canvas, trying desperately to get up.

You'd think that the complete film would exist somewhere.

Anyone who actually thinks they know the answer to this, or that there even is a clear answer to know, is just being a fool.

Both men are top level punchers, but I voted for Louis in the poll. It is difficult to rate anyone at all over Louis in this kind of comparision. He did it all and did it over a very long period of time, ko'ing very tough men, very big men, fast and clever men, and men with all kinds of eccentric styles. He was explosive early and yet very few carried thier power so well into the late rounds.

Louis could damage you from any range & threw his punches technically perfect, Dempsey (on footage available that Ive seen) was a bit wild & tended to loop his punches for maximum damage.

    I voted Joe Louis.

Ive never seen (or heard of) Dempsey taking a man off his feet with a punch, Louis did that (possibly to Galento but not 100% on that), it was a brutal KO.

Depends on whether you regard this as a legit KO or not:

It was beltline from what I could see but Dempsey was working Sharkeys body for a few rds prior. The hook was short and compact much like the hook Tyson hit Berbick with only coming from a lower angle....Sharkey was pretty solid and fit...a good example of a man from one era vs a man who fought on....Dempsey may have not fought everyone because of promotional control but I am not going to penilize him too much if I did I would have to remove Holmes from my top 15

He lifted 245 pound Willard into the air with a body shot in the third round of their fight.

I feel Louis was the bigger hitter he stopped many guys who had reputations for having great chins.

Ok? Louis made 6'7 250lb Buddy Baer do a 360 with one right hand. Buddy Baer was certainly better than 3 years inactive Willard.

Louis is more pleasing, tighter, a tip-top highlight real in principle technqiue. With Dempsey it's different, the punches are wider, flung out with hints of recklessness, but we all know he worked his magic through another method.

Power? Virtually impossible to say. Louis with the cross and Dempsey with the hook for the easy escape route.

Were Dempsey' gloves as thick as Louis'? Could someone do a quick evolution chart over the thickness of gloves?

Louis often wore 6oz gloves, 1oz heavier than Dempsey's.

We did the 8oz become the norm? And the 10oz?
