PP,everyone is entitled to his opinion but not to DISTORT facts to fit an agenda. You say Dempsey at 31 1/2 years old when he fought Tunney in Sept,1926,"didn't" look shot in Philly, contrary to all the writers and boxers who saw that fight. AND you conveniently forgot to mention these darn FACTS.Dempsey DID not fight for over THREE YEARS, without a tune-up fight, without his long-time manager, Jack Kearns, and depressed because his close brother Bernie just committed suicide. What fighter can fight a razor sharp Gene Tunney, after a 3 year layoff, sans even a tune-up fight and win ? These are the facts P, and even though I feel you, for whatever reasons detest Jack Dempsey ,you should give the memory of Jack Dempsey his due, for he never hurt you, and I value the opinions of hundreds of sportswriters who SAW him at his best, and in a 1950 poll declared him the greatest heavyweight they had ever seen by a wide majority...But maybe you 90 years later know better...?Cheers...
Joe's better all round boxing would enable him to stop Jack within four rounds. Mind you,Dempsey would inflict a lot of punishment on Louis before succumbing.
It's pretty much a pick-em fight. I Don't buy that Louis set of skills is far superior and that he outboxes him or stops him in early rounds. Louis had a bad habit of getting decked by subpar bums with no technique who shouldn't even get a title shot to begin with, and Dempsey had a bad habit of getting sluggish and wild when **** hit the fan. It would a very balanced fight and they will both go down at least once; i suppose i would favor Dempsey just because his beard could take a punch better then Joe's either one of them would get KTFO by any good post 50's HW
Clearly this person has an agenda. Look at the Jack Dempsey in my avatar and then look at the Dempsey who went up against Tunney. He was terribly out of shape and top heavy. You could see his was living the good life and enjoying all the food that goes along with fame, money and a lot of vacation time. Ali's best performance was the FOTC, as he had never looked better prior to or after that fight. Jack Dempsey would lose to Tunney and retire almost immediately after, how can you not see that he was at the end of his career and was barely more than a shell of his former greatness?
Tyson was past it at 25. Dempsey may had very well still be in his physical prime in '27 but his inactivity ****ed him over the most. We could say that he was arguably still in his prime but not at his peak form anymore.
No ,it's an attention seeking statement from a poster who is a complete moron. If you doubt the veracity of my post, read his previous offerings.
Yes I have an agenda not the nuthugger with a Dempsey avatar who ignores Dempsey being owned by far the best boxer he ever faced and ignores his blatant ducking of the best HWs, OKAAYYYYYY :rofl
Sure thing buddy This content is protected Dempsey couldn't beat this badass athlete of a boxer but he will KO both Klits. .. won't bother myself to point out the difference of skills and size btw. the Klits, Dempsey or Joe Louis..it's just too obvious
Talking about previous offerings...weren't you the classic forum poster who said that Jack Johnson would UD Vitaly and KO Waldo in a 15 rounder?:rofl...or was it that guy orrinray with the Jack Johnson avatar?
WHy don't you list the majority of post 50s HWs who'd beat Louis and Dempsey Because even as a modernist I find that quite funny
