I never claimed agenda, just bias something we all have, maybe even you'd admit so too if you stopped trolling and unwedged your head out of your ass.

Say what you want but Cockell wasn't a bum and he deserves respect, for the **** he went through in as well as outside of the ring.

Norton would beat Dempsey quicker than he did Bobick.

He did. Me and Suzie weren't the only ones to think so too. The best Marciano beat were better than the best Dempsey beat. Make a thread about it and we'll see who comes out on top.

Also I'd pick Holmes over Marciano too, is that supposed to be some sort of outrageous pick or something?

Walcott wasn't passed it I don't think, and although Charles was passed his best he was still a formidable fighter who might very well beat most of Dempsey's contenders.

Overall I think it's very very close between them in terms of competition head to head. Gibbons and Miske have rocketed in my estimation in the past year.

Charles was clearly still a very good fighter.

Please don't say 'he looked good because Marciano wasn't that good' I'm not sure that circle logic applies here.

Otherwise I could easily say 'Firpo was **** and hurt Dempsey therefore Dempsey is truly abysmal' and I don't want to do that :D

I don't think there's much doubt that the Charles on film against Maricano would do well against older Miske, Carpantier, Brennan, Darcy, Firpo and possibly Gibbons. I think he'd likely drop a similair decision to Gibbons as the one he dropped to Walcott IV, close and debatable by virtue of the fact that he was slightly out-thought.

In short, old Charles would have fit in well with most of Dempsey's challengers, and only Tunney would definitely beat him for me.

Fortunately we don't have to rely upon Boxrec to make such arbitrary judgements.

A losing effort v Johnson. Charles puts on a technical masterclass. Unquestionably not the fighter he once was he is still technically brilliant and although Johnson does indeed out-jab him here for me, it's razor thin.

But more than that, our eyes tell us he was unquestionably a world class operator when he met Rocky. He also beat Layne and Harrison in '53 and Bivins at the end of '52 if you're married to Boxrec.

    Louis wasn't a corpse i'm afraid.

And one loss in an unfilmed fight doesn't negate your performance in filmed fights. Sorry. The eyes have it.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Were all the quality contenders M.I.A when Louis was doing his service then, or was Bivins at least a pretty good heavyweight?

Despite being a lower tier win for Rocky Cockell probably has better wins in Lastarza and Matthewsx3 than Morris or Brennan have, Fulton has better wins but he's arguably Dempsey's greatest scalp
