True, but 2002 Tyson would beat Dempsey easy

Your opinion of Dempsey really isn't that high, is it?

it is rather pointless to use Lewis’ win over Tyson to bolster any sort of argument. At best he was just a “name” at that point. But In truth one does not even need to refer to that fight to make a case for Lewis against other greats. I prefer to look at how he battled with Vitali Klitschko in the last fight of his career at age 37 and still found a way to win. Or his chilling early KOs over Grant, Golata, Briggs and Ruddock.

He was great for his time. Would not be competitive in a modern era or against modern fighters.
He was as good as he could be, boxing was very undeveloped when he fought, and he was as good as he needed to be to get to the point where we still talk about him today. Definitely an ATG but not for skill, I view him the way I do John L Sullivan - great entrepreneur but would suck today.

Never mind Lennox, I'd back Golota to bang out Dempsey.

Let's say in a hypothetical situation where no weight classes exist...

Jack Dempsey (188) VS Sugar Ray Robinson (155) - who wins?
My brain says go with the bigger man but I think SRR was good enough to beat him off speed and technique.

That is the truth, what would have happened if Lennox Lewis jaw if it had been tagged by a 1988 Mike Tyson right hand, it is easy to beat a fighter passed his prime.

I might say Lennox Lewis wins this one on points, but the question in this fight is if he can absorb a right hand from Jack Dempsey. He sure could not take one from Hassim Rahman and Oliver McCall in their 1st fights, those two fights still exist on his fight record, and have not gone away.

You didn't answer my question mate.... I mean is Sugar Ray Robinson great enough to overcome Jack Dempsey, even at completely different weights? That is the meaning of POUND FOR POUND GREATEST, afterall.
