Nobody, and I mean nobody beat Fat Willie Meehan in a 4 round fight. Then again, nobody could...... or could they?

Fat Willie Meehan scored a decision win over Dempsey, between him destroying the #1 contender (Fred Fulton) in 23 seconds, and turning the lineal champion (Jess Willard) into a train crash victim!

Perhaps he needed a better manager?

Which perhaps speaks to the paucity of talent at the top in that era.

I'm not convinced Cooney was very durable. He was also basically inactive. Have a look at the final round - Spinks hit Cooney with huge numbers of flush power punches often in rapid succession and he got up twice and was still on his feet at the finish. He hit him with more full blooded punches than a horse has hair. Excellent showing by Spinks but not one that spells big hitter when taken in context.

    Fat Willie Meehan?

I’m not sure being called that should be taken as a compliment or an insult? ;)

Dempsey in 1 or 2....it wouldn't last long.

Carpentier lasted way longer against prime Dempsey and so did Gibbons, why couldn't a bigger, harder punching Michael Spinks do likewise?
