Ok the prime dempsey vs prime tyson thread has been done a million times on ESB and other places...we all know the arguments....I tend to love dempsey and think he is much better then some of the old school haters feel....however I personelly do have to favor the bigger and likely faster tyson. My question is however...what about prime dempsey vs not prime tyson.....how about willard dempsey vs douglas tyson...or mcneeley tyson....or holyfield tyson, or lewis tyson....or kevin mcbride tyson....how about prime dempsey vs exhibitions with corey sanders tyson?

for those old school haters out their, how bad does tyson have to be until prime dempsey beats him....

    your thoughts...

You pose the wrong question...At what age do you think Jack Dempsey would have to be ,to give prime Tyson a chance to beat him ?
Jack Dempsey at his peak was a KILLER. The way he demolished giants such as Carl Morris, Fred Fulton, Jess Willard, was a heck more impressive than Tyson against a big man Bonecrusher Smith, who lasted the fight.
Who was more versatile, Dempsey or Tyson / the truth is Dempsey. If they were by miracle to have met,in their primes, jack Kearns would have Dempsey moving about on his very fast legs, circling until he would pounce in with his left hook ,getting in very close where Tyson had no punching room, and where Dempsey thrived. Dempsey needed very little room to inflict his killing two handed barrages. No heavyweight was so at home in close as Dempsey was. His fighting spirit was unsurpassed by a heavyweight. Dempsey would ko Tyson, whatever it took, IMO...He could
    MOVE, and punch...

Dempsey still gets hit, hurt and dropped by even Tyson's aging body and power.... Tyson was pathetic by 2002 against Len Lewis in Tennessee, so he was beatable at that juncture by several lesser champs in a time machine...

But pre 2000 Tyson still KO's 1920 Dempsey... He may struggle, but Tyson gets the job done....

Dempsey beats Tyson of 2004 / '05, no doubt....

I think Dempsey takes prime Tyson in a great fight, but any version of Mike that's past his prime isn't going to beat Dempsey in my book. Outside of his prime, Mike's more stationary, headhunting style wouldn't do him any favors against Dempsey at his best. Dempsey's also got superior conditioning, which would certainly play a factor.

Mike at his best could certainly pull that win off, but it'd be an upset in my eyes and the longer it lasted, the harder it'd be for him to achieve it.

    prime vs prime...its a toss-up,
I don't buy that crap that Spinks Tyson walks right trough Willard Dempsey.
The other version of Tyson mentioned by OP gets beaten soundly by 1919 Dempsey.

"Holyfield" Tyson Vs Dempsey might be a good competitive fight, anything after that and Dempsey would win due to aggression, motivation and stamina, Tyson didnt give a damn about boxing after the Holyfield fight and his performances showed

Dempsey's technique is to raw to beat a prime Tyson, not a knock on him at all, he came from a completely different era. He would get countered and hurt and stopped.

He had very good physical tools and Mike was mentally not in the game post Holyfield at all. So i can envisage him beating Mike around that time, due to Mikes drop in combination punching, movement and stamina near the end of his career.

  10. :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl dempsey would **** on the face of this tyson, simple.
this tyson did beat guys like mcneley, bruno or sheldon. when he faced a great fighter like holyfield he was exposed.

yeah one of Holyfields great wins, a post prison Tyson. Other than that, he lost the trilogy to Bowe, went 1-1 with Moorer. Great.

On second thoughts any Tysonm (Pre 2003) would beat the **** out of Demspey

Purely because he was fighting bigger guys, bigger punchers, better boxers and he had good success agaisnt these guys, so whats little ole Jack Dempsey gonan do that Tyson aint seen before?

  12. holyfield was not in his prime when he faced bowe he was 30, and still he won the rematch, and he could win the third fight but he was bad of his heart, bowe was hurt and evander could not finish him, he was tired. And he did beat moorer in the rematch too. Riddick bowe was much better than any victory of tyson.
Who did beat tyson? Tillis? Berbick? Tucker? Smith? Tommas? Sheldon? Mcnely? Tubbs? Zouski? David jaco? Biggs? Marvis frazier? Ruddock? Please....

JACK DEMPSEY WOULD ABSOLUTELY KILL ANY VERSION OF TYSON POST BUSTER DOUGLAS.
EVEN THE VERSION OF TYSON WHO FACED BRUNO IN THE FIRST FIGHT WAS NOT GREAT.

He didnt fight them, him and Bowe refused to fight each other and as for Moorer, well he would have got his clock cleaned.

Theres that saying, a great big fighter will always beat a great small fighter.

Dempsey Vs Tyson would look awfully similar to Foreman Frazier...
