I would have loved to see that. I bet it is an about even fight at that point in jacks life.

one sided beating, dempsey would kill him in his prime, in 1931 depend of his training

    Some context is needed here.

This would be three years after the second Tunney fight. He put out the feelers for a comeback, and very quickly thought better of it after an exhibition with King Levinsky, which took place in 1932. I think that he would have been unlikely to be successful against a legitimately world class opponent at this stage.

Carnera was himself a work in progress at this point. He improved significantly between the two Sharkey fights. Even allowing for this, I think that he was probably too much for the version of Dempsey that would have been possible. I suspect that Dempsey knew it, and that this is why it never happened.

I'm surprised that no one has said Carnera knocks the crouching Dempsey out with that deadly right uppercut:huh

He'd probably wear down the much past-it Dempsey for a late stoppage, or, if Jack decides to run for it, a UD. Have to tip my hat to Jack for knowing when to call it a day.

I was a little disappointed after reading the opening title that Dempsey wasn't actually refereeing a contest between Tom Heeney and a bear.
