The Mercer who bombed out Morrison or went toe to toe with Lewis vs the best version of Dempsey?

Merciless by TKO, that man had an chin. Can't see Dempsey wearing him down.

It must be a consensus that the Morrison version of Mercer prevails.

Now, the Ferguson I version might be a different story.

Well for one thing mercer isnt gonna stand there and let Dempsey wail away on him like Willard did ...but he could also be tagged alot..like he wasnt exactly benny Leonard in there ..if mercer can bully Dempsey around which let's face it what was Dempseys prime weight 190? ..mercer was a thick dude with a hard head and angry fists...I can see him bullying Dempsey and wearing him down ...stopped late possibly decision

I think Dempsey would win a decision. His fast, panther like style would serve him well here IMO.

If he stayed disciplined, that is.

My thought as well. Dempsey could be really fast and accurate and quite a good boxer when he wanted to be. But could he resist brawling with Mercer? In a slugfest, Mercer might well give Dempsey problems.

He'd have to fight a very smart, disciplined fight otherwise he's get crushed .. Mercer was a 230 pound block of granite that could hit ..

He definitely wasn't a block of granite at 230 lmao, maybe 215. Bit puffy at 230.

Dempsey however, he was carved out of stone before that 3 year layoff

If Mercer is on his game, it would be an exciting and close fight, with Dempsey getting the decision.

I see Dempsey being more competitive than Cooper and taking a close UD

The Mercer / Cooper fight was a timeless classic, but my god, it must have put a lot of miles on both of them.
