He'd have to up his game from the Meehan losses.

Langford lost to Meehan over the same distance ,would he be in danger of losing to Reggie Gross too?
Or would his skin tone make him invulnerable?:think

Don't forget Dempsey trained outdoors so he would be very tanned ,wouldn't that make a difference?

I think not. Dempsey, would smash Smokin' Bert.

Dempsey, has all the tools of a great fighter. Dempsey's speed and power will give Bowe all kinds of trouble. Bowe, throws those wide looping power shots. Dempsey, could move inside those and counter with his short power shots. Bowe, takes to many shots with his porous defense, his tendency to loop his punches leaves him open for inside counters, he could be eating a lot of leather in return. Bowe, could make the fight easier for himself, if he stayed away from brawling and just used his power jab to beat on Dempsey, then use use weight/size to maul Dempsey inside. Just wear Dempsey down and don't look to make it a back alley brawl.

    Because they are different fighters.

One was lightning fast, the other plodding.

    Do the math.

Dempsey could come out all guns blazing and stop Bowe early, which is possible though unlikely. Or Bowe could survive the early onslaught, and using his size and weight advantages, wear Dempsey down for a mid fight stoppage, which is more likely.

Dempsey would initiate a firefight, knowing full well that would be his only way to win. And to his detriment, Bowe would be all too happy to oblige. Where Bowe could make an easier day of it by using his jab to soften Jack, he never met a brawl he didn't like. And in a brawl, I will pick the brawler... and there may have never been a better brawler than Dempsey.

Give me a break. Dempsey looked fast against 2nd raters and farm boys...Marciano looked good against first rate master boxers and proved himself the better fighter...Dempsey never beat a boxer who actually knew how to box really well

You are overrating speed..Marciano was much more effective than Dempsey in other areas which made him a better fighter than Dempsey. Speed is not the only important trait against a big man

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

Marciano didn't even look good in a mirror, never mind against " master " boxers. Off balance, wild swings that missed by a country mile. All he had was a very good chin, and a big right hand.

Marciano best faster handed fighters than Dempsey did. Marciano never let a speed disadvantage be the reason he lose

Those who saw Dempsey say he was faster than Benny Leonard.

Tommy Gibbons and Billy Miske didn't know how to box well?

I rate Dempsey high in h2h.

He'd give Bowe some trouble but would eventually get taken apart.

Dempsey may get of first but big daddy never let anybody get a shot off for free and its on the inside exchanges where he rips into Jack.

Seamus really? Aren't you the guy who called Marciano the greatest head to head fighter below 200lb and picked him greater than Dempsey. You have always criticized Dempsey against modern fighters in h2h matches, why the change of heart?

Did Dempsey even beat Miske? The only healthy version he fought he fought to a draw. He beat Miske when Miske was dying from Bright's disease.

Gibbons did NOT look good on film in the Dempsey fight. His hands did not look fast. His feet did not look fast.
