This would be an absolute war! With neither fighter taking a backwards step. Who would win? Fifteen Rounds.
Rocky Marciano was Dempsey to the second Power..IMO Everything Jack can Do, Rocky can do better. For once, "The Rock" would be considered a BIG Heavyweight in a match. (Frame wise & Power) Imagine Tommy Hearns Vs. Marvin Hagler in Heavyweight Form. A war for as long as it last's, But I got Rocky by late Stoppage.
This is a hard one for me to pick, but i'll pick Rocky. Also, between the 'elite' HWs, i believe this one to be the most excitin slugfest of the lot
teeto, I was thinkin more along the lines of 15 round Draw both men hospitalized for several weeks? :yep
This fight would be the reality = of fiction Balboa Vs. Lang II 2 of the best brawler's in Boxing History. (With the Rock as his name sake)
Dempsey was powerful, quick, accurate, had a real killer instinct in the ring and had often under-rated boxing skills but Rocky's constant pressure, fantastic stamina, power and iron jaw means that this fight really could go either way. I would slightly lean towards Dempsey but if they had 2 fights both would win 1. One things for certain this would be a brutal bloodbath.
It would take until the middle rounds for Marciano to find the mark, as Dempsey would be moving awkwardly, but I don't believe Dempsey was more accurate, definitely not more power, and I don't believe he was as durable. Rocky has more of what it takes to win this one. Marciano KO 7
Experts said the exact opp. everything rock could do dempsey could do better ,very hard to pick both our in my top 5 ,rock did have better 1 punch power but dempsey was a better 2 handed hitter i say dempsey tears him up early tires and out boxes rock for a very very bloody dec. if not a tko dempsey before he got civilized was a RABID WOLVERINE
If it's over 15 rounds then I must assume they'll be fighting in Marciano's era? That means neutral corner rule, bigger gloves etc. How would this affect Jack, if at all? This would be a tear up of epic proportions...the only other fight to rival it would be Frazier-Marciano, in my opinion. I'd be interested to see how Rocky's skin holds up against Dempsey's bombs. I'd imagine Jack to come out of the blocks quickly and pounce on Rocky, getting the better of things early. By round 5, Jack would look a certain bet for a win, having established a clear points lead and cutting Marciano over the right eye. With Jack's power and Rocky sometimes being a bit sloppy, it's perfectly possible that a knockdown in Jack's favour could occur. The neutral corner rule will be still new to Dempsey though, and it would take a bit away from his game as he just wasn't used to that ruleset. As with all Marciano fights, Rocky would keep coming on, maybe losing most of the early rounds, but putting something in the bank for himself. I don't recall anyone going to Jack's body too much, and it could be a new experience for him having a heavy-handed swarmer targeting those ribs. By round 8, Rocky is fighting on equal terms, but Jack is starting to slow a bit, a combination of the gruellling battle of attrition and his early fast start. Marciano's cut is bad, and his corner work feverishly to stem the bleeding, but it will bleed quite freely for the remainer of the fight. In round 9, Rocky throws a haymaker and he slips, falling gracelessly to the canvas. He acceptsd Jack's hand sheepishly as he gets to his feet and both men can be seen wearing an amused smile as they resume action. In round 10 Jack gets his second wind and enjoys his best round since the fifth. He cuts Marciano over the bridge of the nose, and has him in trouble along the ropes towards the end of the round. Rocky survives, and Jack is clearly annoyed as he walks back to the corner, as he realises that Rocky was in a bad way, but the bell saved him. Come the 11th, and Marciano has recovered between rounds. In fact, it's Dempsey who appears the more weary of the two, having expended a lot of energy in the 10th. Marciano, realising that the cuts are bad and also knowing that he is still behind on points, comes on strong. A left from Dempsey rocks him back on his heels early, but Marciano is relentless and digs furiously at Dempsey's body. Jack grudgingly backs off and tries to circle Rocky, but Marciano fights with more than a hint of desperation. At the round's end, Dempsey looks beaten. The 12th and 13th are big rounds for Marciano has he lands big shots to Dempsey's head and body. Jack, defiant and brave, fights back sporadically but those body shots have taken the fight out of him. A looping right by Marciano puts him on the seat of his pants midway through the round, but Rocky himself is tired now and cannot press home for a finishing punch. Dempsey sits on his stool heavily at round's end, murmuring something to his corner as he does so. As Rocky gets off his stool for the 14th, he notices that Jack stays on his stool, his head bowed. Dempsey cannot continue. The ref hold up Rocky's right hand to signal the winner.
