Jack Dempsey vs Sam Langford in 1917 - who would have won?

    Dempsey, I respect him, but man he should have definitely fought Langford. And he should have fought Harry Greb who wanted and deserved a fight with him. But, I think Dempseys, Style will beat Sam.

    He apparently got blinded in one eye by fulton was it, that's the end of his prime for me. Up until that point i'd make him a fairly heavy favourite over dempsey.

    From there on in his eyesight worsened whilst dempsey improved. Jack did get sparked by flynn so langford would always have a punchers chance. I'd say from sam's fight with fulton up until jack's fight with fulton it's 50/50 but thereon in jack is too big a favourite for the fight to mean anything other than name value.

    I would pick Langford if the fight took place in January, and Dempsey if it took place in December.

    Langford in 1917, dempsey in 1918 and anytime after that.
