This would go like the boxing Rock em Sock em game some of us 50 year olds had as kids … Bye bye Fury, getting your block knocked off
Beautiful This place has really picked up since the return of boxing sage/terror of treadmills. FREE HOUDINI!
Fury had never faced a fighter as fast, ferocious and deadly as Dempsey. Prime Dempsey makes Fury retire. Permanently
I'll go with the Manassa brawler. Even though commentators in his day called him a great fighter with skill, poetry in motion; yeah right! ....that dude IMO was a windmill slop-house fighting fool. He would have "effective" aggression, nullifying Fury's skillset. Let me qualify: Rarely do I see a great boxer with skills finding their toughest foe to be a mirroring image as far as styles. I'll take 9 out of 10 times a greatest challenge for any great is when there is an absolute contrast of styles. quick examples: *Floyd's greatest challenges didn't come by faster hands, smarter brains, rather a rough house style [Castillo & Maidana] *Tyson's greatest challenge wasn't a stronger guy ergo Douglas, Holyfield. They brought a contrast that compromised him as a result we mention how much more skillful they were. Same to me with Fury. I don't think his greatest challenge would be a sweet science fighter, rather someone who is either A. Unorthodox B. Has a contrast in styles that compromises his best assets. Which is Dempsey. Maybe an older version. But on a skill level? I'll take Tunney over Fury as well.
Jack was great back in the day but he was beaten twice by lightheavy- albeit sublime Tunney- who, in a way- was a lightweight version of Furey. I know Jack was past his best against Gene, but seriously folks, neither Wlad nor Wilder could take Furey out even though they are very good bigger heavyweight punchers. Jack would? PS I am aware what Ray Arcel said about Demps but he said that long before Furey was alive.
Pretty sure i agree. Fury would have some awkward moments with Dempsey's aggression i think but i believe the disparity in size would get him home. There's suddenly a lot of This content is protected in the thread.
Quoting my earlier post: Not saying that it's a sure thing, but Dempsey had much higher workrate, he was also much quicker than both and attacked differently than methodical Wlad and Wilder who only tries to find you with overhand right over and over again. Dempsey was very agressive puncher and that may be the key factor. Frazier wasn't half of the puncher Foreman and Liston were and yet he's the one who hurt Ali, not them. Some boxers struggles with agression more than punching power alone.
Probably the 3rd rate comment. Audley Harrison licks both of them on the same night, boring thread, barely worth discussing
