If we put Wladimir Klitschko to time machine and transer him to 1919 to replace Jess Willard and fight Jack Dempsey, who would win? Dempsey vs Klitschko 1919 in Bay View Park Arena.
Of all the little guys I always thought Dempsey would be the toughest assignment for Wlad. He has absolutely no interest in jabbing with him (normally a weakness, here a strength), he has really nice arbitrary head movement, he has really fast hands, really fast feet, a general, rhythm-breaking style and a superb record against taller, slower fighters. He also hit the tonne. Wlad is so much bigger though, and so good at his size, that I just don't know that it would make a difference.
Wlad could win a holding match because of his size. In a clean boxing match , he gets layed flat out.
The 5'9 163 lb Dempsey smokes the 6'6 171 lb Klitschko.atschatsch Oh wait, Klitschko actually has muscle on his bones. NM.....Klitschko KO1.:thumbsup
Peter landed a pretty good left hook on Klitschko didn't do too much. Klitschko ran out of gas twice and was only really flatweeded once by Sanders. The fight would be ridiculously one-sided. 188lb Dempsey would get mowed down.
Too much of a size disparity. Klitschko flattens him the first time a right hand or left hook land flush.
Dempsey hits him with 3 straight low blows. Wlad goes to complain, and Dempsey hits him with a left hook. Fight over. Dempsey wins by KO.
In 1919, Demsey would obliterate Wlad. Back then, you could hit a guy while he was trying to get up. So let's say they fall in a clinch, on the way up, The Menassa Mauler would just tee off on Wlad's head, and keep doing it until Wlad stopped trying to get up. After 1926, when the neutral corner rule is in place and enfrorced, Wlad would be able to use his jab and grab to win.
