Willard doesn't have the skill but he could soak it up and had a KO punch... This is a complete nightmare for Wlad. If Willard was to fight Wlad he has a good chance of winning, despite Wlad being a better fighter. Jess would be way behind but Wlad has lost to some pretty poor opposition.

klit. would be in shock win he was hit by this so called little man who could in sharkeys words(hit you anywere and hurt you,if he hit you in the shoulder he could disslocate it) easily slipping klits. jab and severely punishing klit. up and down his entire body, suprisingly hitting harder than alot of his peers of today,he dont understand how this man in front of him can hit like a powerfull heavy and move like a middleweight, and he was anything but as stated a ?slugging farmboy come on he was at 24-28 the taller leaner paler tyson of the 20,s dempsey by savage ko no later than 4-7 i.m.o.

I will be on vacation. I have not decided if I want to check the hotel internet to see the result, or go hold off until I return Sunday night to watch it on TIVO.

Why would the Dempsey who fought Brennan lose?

In the second Brennan match, Dempsey did not do well. Dempsey’s power bailed him out. Vs this Dempsey on an off night, I think Wlad would win.

I am a fan of Dempsey’s but you will not catch me ignoring or omitting facts in my evaluation of him in the ring.

How about the first Brennan fight? Dempsey said "no one hurt me more than my pal Bill Brennan". In the second fight Dempsey hit Brennan so hard Brennan broke his ankle when he fell.

Wow. Talk about two fighters from opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of where they came from...These two individuals are so different. The Olympic gold medalist from the Ukraine against the hobo from Colorado.
I'm really beginning to appreciate how vicious and tough the old timers were in professional boxing. How would you like to fight an opponent who tried to thumb and rake your eyes? Hit you low repeatedly on the hips and groin? Break or dislocate a shoulder in a clinch? Apply a choke? Head butt you directly in the face? You name it, it seems to me the old timers looked for your weakness and tried capitalize on anything they possibly could. Guys like Dempsey,Ketchel, Johnson, and Greb were known for their savage tactics.
Wlad is the ultra modern athlete, fast , strong, powerful, and the heavyweight champion. What's more, he is a gentleman and a sportsman. Dempsey was a vicious individual who in my mind, from what I've read, would do anything to win. Do you think Dempsey considered boxing a sport or survival?
    So different.

The first Brennan fight was much more one sided than the second. Didn't Dempsey score 6 knockdowns over 6 rounds? Also, I'm pretty sure that the broken ankle occurred in the first fight.

BIG DEE HERE = Dempsey early rd KO maybe the 1st or the 2nd rd. Dempsey
broke Bill Brennan`s ankle in the 6th rd of their first fight Feb. 25 1918.
Klitschko is to slow and takes a poor shot to the wiskers to take Dempsey.
His brother Vitali would do better.

You are correct, did I give the impression it was the second? Sorry,it happened in the last round of the first fight, can't remember without looking it up but it might have been the 6th round.

I agree Vitali is more durable and less inclined to panic under pressure, imo.

Not now that I re-read your post. My mistake. Anyway, I think the second Brennan fight was an off-night for Dempsey. I hear he got better after the sixth. I think it was a case of Brennan getting worn down and Dempsey growing more determined to finish things as the fight went on.

Brennan was a good tough fighter so no disgrace that Jack had problems with him.
