Jack dempsey was really a savage

It doesn't matter who he was, or whom he trained, or if it's his business, all those old fart trainers are cut from the same cloth. They're all a bunch of biased jackasses with no credibility when it comes to fantasy fights.

I've yet to know one of those ¨classic trainers¨ who wouldn't put a mediocre tomato can over a modern fighter, as long as said tomato can belongs to one of the ¨golden eras¨ or fought this or that legend, they can all shove their biased opinions in their behinds for all I care. Most boxing historians are the same, nostalgia dickriders of the worst kind. I'd rather hear the opinion of a casual fan watching and comparing two fights from different eras than idiots like Bert Sugar who completely overrate the old time fighters, at least the casual fan will give me an unbiased opinion.

The kind of idiots who would favor the like of ABSOLUTE CRAP fighters like Firpo or Jess Willard (some of Dempsey's greatest scalps) over Lewis of the Klitschkos. Away with their stupidity

 

Imagine the willard fight in HD, with super slow motion replays, holy **** it would be seen as one of the most brutal beat downs of all time, sadly though still mentioned, its not known by many boxing fans today

Also the firpo fight would be something else with multiple camera angles and colour etc. Pity the so called ducking of the top black fighters has ruined his legacy for many. For me he would have won the fights, but no way of knowing for sure.

You have to remember after the johnson fight vs jeffries there was full scale race riots, with many black people lynched, not a surprise the fights never came off

 

Firpo was as strong as an ox and was wild as ****, he was a very dangerous guy, he was not **** thats a pathetic thing to say. And willard ?, what the man who took out after 26 rounds or so the legend jack johnson ?, yeah what a crap fighter he must have been :tired

 

I'm not saying they weren't strong like oxes, and i'm not questioning Willard endurance which is his only noteworthy trait, but you must be a blind mole to not realize how limited as fighters, as in devoid of technique and skills they were. Behemoths with no fundamentals that would destroy a lot of people from that era because of their physical traits, yeah. It doesn't change the fact they're **** fighters and comparing them with someone like Lennox Lewis is just insane.

 

I'm glad you said this. People need to appreciate what a fighter did in his era. :good

 

Boxing was still, in many ways, in it's infancy back then. Of course, the boxers of today have over 100 years of refined technique behind them. That's a big advantage.

No doubt many fighters back then were rather crude and lacking in even basic skills. Even so, we have to appreciate a lot of what those old-time fighters were about.
A Dempsey transported into modern times (Say, post 1960) would be a megastar, like Tyson was. No doubt in my mind. He had that 'something' which very few fighters have.

But yeah, as great as he was, there were glaring flaws. But I put that down to the fact that boxing was still a young sport, at least under Queensbury rules. The talent was there though...just unrefined.

In his prime he got knocked out in one round by a complete bum called Fireman Jim Flynn.

 

The story is Dempsey won a fight which was his biggest pay day at the time (maybe $25/50 cant remember) and on the way back from the venue they where mugged by two armed robbers.

Later on in the evening they where at a bar and noticed that the robbers where sat the bar!

Dempsey literally ran up to em and knocked them all out before they could run/draw their guns, and got the money back from them

Dempsey wrote the book on aggressive defense.

The dude was brilliant and he had KO power in both hands, ridiculous footwork, and extremelly fast hands.

If he gets inside Wlad, Wlad will get floored.

If he can KO Williard who took the biggest beating I've ever seen a man take, if he lands on Klitschko, it will be game over.

Remember, Wlad is the same guy that dropped to his knees from the wind of Sander's punches.

 

This shows you don't know **** about Dempsey. He was a very intelligent fighter.

He was an aggressive counterpuncher. He didn't just wade in like Sam Peter and eat punches.

What do you mean so called ducking he ducked them. And for you he would have won? Despite no film of them around? Do you even know who he ducked? He also ducked a white fighter in Greb who mopped the floor with the opposition he was defending against.

As for his fights been in HD, it would only exemplify how poor his techniqiue was and let's not forget Willard was 3years innactive and never that good and Firpo was a meer strong man with little boxing ability
