Jack Dempsey would beat Joe Louis, via Ko

What specific stylistic attributes of these two fighters led you to this conclusion? Not looking for debate. Just wondering Why you took that position.

Joe Louis couldn't take a punch. He was almost knocked out by light punching 160 pound Billy Conn. So Dempsey could knock him out early. Not because of how good Dempsey was but because of how poor Louis chin was. But Louis was more skilled than Dempsey and would probably stop him before Dempsey stopped him.

 

I have much to learn because i did not know Billy Conn was THAT small, i heard he weighed in at 167 which is ridiculously small although the highest estimations put him at 175 for the fight which barely grazes light heavyweight so that is very interesting to know. That is something to think about. It's likely that light heavyweights now could beat Billy Conn

 

Dempsey was a bad man, and Louis was a slow starter.

I always favored the lightning fast Dempsey in this matchup. I think he overwhelms Joe early. Now ..if there was a rematch.....things get more interesting.

 

I don't see anything the OP said to earn this amount of ridicule though I myself would favor Louis 2-1.

I'd definitely see it has not impossible for Dempsey to win early. Joe can be hit and hurt early, and Dempsey extremely fast. We could see Louis down very early.
I certainly don't rule it out.

 

Yeah people are trying to make it out like it's outrageous to predict a Dempsey win here when this matchup was the biggest fantasy fight for nearly a century, and divided people evenly. It's no mismatch either way. If pressed, I think Dempsey wins the first but loses the next two.

 

I'll go with that Swag, no problem.
I've got Louis at 2 on the list, Dempsey around 9.,but head to head there's no certain out come imo. At least in their first fight.
