What are the views on this book? I've seen many posters saying it helps with adding more power in punches and it is good for punching technique and I have seen critisims of it. For example, in the book Dempsey says that for defence, slipping, bobbing and weaving (which Dempsey was known for) you should bend foward at the waist and not your knees. Now this worked for him, but it is known that bending at your waist can make you a sucker for a good uppercut much like Tyson did to Marvis Frazier when he bent himself foward to dodge a punch, Tyson shot a right uppercut and finsihed him off, just like he said he would do before the fight. he noted that Frazier had a bad tendency to "bow" instead of "duck."

So just trying to get views on what people's thoughts on the book are, he does have some good advice on how to punch but at the same time there are 'questionable' tactics which Jack says to follow, what are your guys views on it? Did the instructions work for you? I'd especially like to hear from the boxing instructors here and the guys who box themselves, but anyone feel free to give their thoughts on it.

Any bob and weaving infighter will be vulnerable to uppercuts. It's just an inherent weakness of that style, coming in low head first. You can compensate with proper blocking and caution, but that's just the way it is.

I like the book quite a bit for it's breakdown of power punching mechanics. It's a much more complete piece than i would have expected for a guy with Dempsey's style to be honest. As someone who likes to read and collects PDF's of boxing manuals this is one of my favorites.
