I understand that both sides of jack dempseys family had been in the wild west for a lot of generations before dempsey was born. although the family name was irish he had a jewish grandmother and was part indian. they were said to also be related to the cow boy gang the hatfeilds. Dempseys family were mormons. His fathers name was hyrum (a hebrew name) and his mother was originaly celia smoot. Muhammad Ali was possibly more closely related to ireland. he at least had an irish born greatgrandfather.
