A posthumous pardon 100+ years later for a man as promiscuous as Johnson had no children himself won't do much good.

The critics will likely drill down to see that Johnson skipped bail on a bond, and did many bad things. Johnson was found guilty in the Mann Act ( He did drive women across state lines for well, you know, and committed crimes like beating his wife within an inch of her life, and attacking a very sick 120-pound man, claiming self-defense. Like I said before, this type of person belongs in a Clock Work Orange movie.

We'll see how this plays out. I guess you could say it put boxing back in the headlines for the moment.

The Mann Act was brought in to combat White Slavery.Johnson travelled across stateliness with women,in theory any male who did so was guilty of transgressing the act,it was a complete nonsense. Adam Pollack who, as well as being a hugely respected boxing writer, is an attorney wrote an excellent article about it.

Klompton cleaned his clock on the debate here and Johnson wasn't the first target of the Mann Act. Johnson's club in Chicago doubled as a ***** house.

The charges against Johnson were largely trumped up for political reasons.

The question of whether or not he was a good man, isn't really relevant to the issue.
