How do you think Jack Johnson would fare in the current heavyweight division? Does he have enough skill/technique to compete, or is the difference between these two eras of boxing too great for Jack to do anything significant? Is his power alone enough to carry him through some of today's contenders?
thats what I initially thought. On the contrary though, he had some mean uppercuts on the inside unlike Ruiz.
that is true, however remember that he had some good power behind his shots. He would at least be somewhere around Samuel Peter's technical proficiency, and he could probably match, or surpass his power.
If he had time to adjust, he's probably be champion. Most of Johnson's faults were because he was fighting such, potentially, long fights. Johnson who was prepared for 12 rounds would be a different animal altogether but he had enough raw ability to beat both Klitschko's.
Why not? If he had some time to train, he would have definitely gotten there. Johnson had more talent than most of the modern sluggers put together.
Yeah, an elderly Johnson was more skilled and polished than the best Sam Peter. Like the amazing Neon Leon and Shannon Too Big To Move Briggs? Yeah, epic pwnage would ensue, there. Not.
