Wrong. Jeffries fought more than one man at or above 200 pounds. We have been over this before. I have shown you newspaper reports.

Would you like to wager avatar rights for a two months?

The very tall and thin heavies tend to lack durability. Martin was KO'd multiple times early SuzieQ, and he never made it to the top. Also, I own the same footage of Ruhlin and Martin sparring, and it was not a " tooling " as you report. Martin was only the better by margin, and it was not one sided at all. If you read stuff on Martin, you will know he had a weak chin and flat out could not take body shots.

I was talking about Griffin being past his prime when Johnson fought him, not Martin.

Because I read about Jeanette's career. He started boxing very late in those days and had zero amateur fights. That is how I know.

7-5-1 is a poor record. Johnson first meet Jeanette when Jeanette had a losing record. Try 0-3. Also, Jeanette did not KO Langford before he meet Johnson. Where do you read or hear this?

McVey was like Tyson? Oh really? Did he have a lights out uppercut, bob and weave, and was he trained by Cus D'Amato? McVey on film was a mildly skilled slugger type and was not as agressive as Tyson, and not nearly as a good as the young Mike Tyson.

You need to ante up with some sources here. There are too many falsehoods above in your replies.

1 ) Where did Jeffries promise McVey a title shot in early 1903? List the source please. List Jeffries words please.

2 ) Where did McVey says he would never get in the ring with Johnson again? Clearly there were several offers for Johnson to meet McVey well over $20,000.00 when Johnson was champion by promoters. So it seems that Mcvey would fight Johnson since the offers were out there.

3 ) List the fight report where Jenaette Ko'd Langford before Jeanette fought Johnson.

There is no need to get nasty here SuzieQ. If I'm wrong, I'll man up to it and learn. I hope you can do the same.

The fighters said Choynski hit harder. In additon Choynski kO'd Johnson, Ketchel did not. Jack himself said Choynski hit him the hardest.

Most historians, in fact the majority of them who has researched the era would say Maher hit harder than Ketchel. Of Course Maher was a heavyweight, and a known big puncher.

Because I read the reports. Fitz and Sharkey went several rounds in their first fight SuzieQ. It seems like your either forget to remember it or were unaware of their first match which ended in controversy. Also, you are 100% wrong, Corbett landed a multiple punch combination when he dropped Fitzsimmons. It was not one punch. Please watch the films sometimes. I don't mean to be too hard on you here, but this is a history forum, and not everyone knows so I feel need to set the record straight.

This is an opinion. If Papke could hurt Ketchel with the he first punch he threw, Fitz could do the same. The O'brien Ko happened when O'brien was past his prime. Much of Ketchel record is inflated with no-names on it, but that is a seperate thread.

With all due respect, I think you do.

Very interesting Great A. Is this fight a relatively new discovery? So Jeanette after a few fights with Johnson and others made Langford quit in 1905.

Sam Langford must have not been ready to fight top heavies back then. Langford was only 156 pounds when Johnson beat him. This clipping says Langford was out weighed by about 20 pounds, but does not list the weights.

I do think Jeanette's TKO over Langford is a more impressive result than Johnson's UD in 15 over Langford.

On Christmas day of 1905, Joe Jeanette knocked out Sam Langford in 8 rounds. On March 14th 1906 3 months later, Jack Johnson won a 15 round decision over joe jeanette. It is all there in both the Ring record Book and boxrec.

What does this mean? Jack Johnson beat joe jeanette AFTER jeanette had knocked out sam langford. Clearly, johnson deserves huge credit for beating a very capable joe jeanette in 1906. As you see in the article above.

I see you chose NOT to reply to my point about MOST old time Historians ranking Ketchel as the greatest middleweight, and hardest hitting middleweight of all time, and not Fitzsimmons.

I also see you refused to comment on me pointing out Stanley Ketchel fought a 6 round draw with Sam Langford in a fight where ketchell took a prime bigger sam langfords best stuff. Sam Langford was a better fighter and better puncher than fitz.

Papke was a hall of fame middleweight. Ketchell avenged this loss THREE times. This is a far better result than getting knocked out at middleweight by Dan Hall like fitzy did. O Brien Kayo did not happen while past his prime. O brien had recently fought Burns for the title, and had whupped Jack Blackburn and George Cole shortly before fighting ketchel. In fact, Stanley ketchell knocked o brien out COLD in both fights....while jack johnson struggled to pull out a newspaper draw at the time.

Ketchel was only 23 years old when he died! If we compare ketchels resume before 24 years of age with Fitzsimmons, ketchel wins by a LANDSLIDE. You will agree with me on this. Stanley ketchel fought prime versions of Jack Johnaon and Sam Langford and was VERY competitive, and defeated top hall of famers like Phildealphia Jack O brien, Bill Papke, and solid contenders Joe Thomas, Mike twin sullivan, jack twin sullivan, Hugo Kelly, Frank Claus.

    * Ketchel unlike Fitzsimmons did NOT draw the color line

That is not the point. the point is a light hitter like corbett floored and knocked out fitzsimmons, and fitz had to grab on to the referee to save himself from being counted out. middleweight dan hall also knocked out fitzsimmons.

This is not true. Nat Fleischer and Charley Rose rated Ketchell greatest middleweight of all time and hardest hitter. NOT fitzsimmons. The majority view Ketchell as the harder puncher than choynski. Also whenever ketchell stepped up in his short career to fight BIG heavyweights, he always put them on the floor.

    SuzieQ..

There was a mention of Peter Felix earlier. I'm hoping you, or others may be able to shed a 'lil light on him. I have some details, and I know there's a lot more to be said about him. Its not for an arguement, or anything of the likes... just wish to hear a lot about him. P Felix.
