Great post and find ... was this different than what he said from the ring after the Joe Jennette exhibition in the later 40's ?

Yeah, different. This was part of several recordings Johnson made around 1914/1915?

There’s another excerpt I’ve heard (I think I’ve linked that before also) in which Johnson briefly describes his fight vs Jeffries, including his description of the final knockout - that particular recording was made in 1910.

Not exactly the recording I’ve heard before but a different sample excerpt of Johnson speaking re the Jeffries fight.

As I’ve gathered from various sources this recording was made 20 days after Johnson defeated Jeffries on July 4, 1910: -

Another excerpt from the 1914 recordings. This is Johnson talking training and particularly re the medicine ball. This recording was made in 1914 for the physical culture recordings - go to 5:15 for the recording: -

This is Johnson’s former Brit agent and show business manager Claude Jenkins talking about Jack - Mr Jenkins was 83 yo as at the time of the recording - go to 12:35 for the recording: -
