He would be stripped of his title, firstly, then he would be driven from American life.

But of course, he would never do that.

He would be a big hit in Eastern Europe.

    Dosn't happen.

In the paralel Sullivan thread, I stipulated that he does not draw the colour line.

    A. Because it would not be expedient in this era.

    B. Because the colour line issue would distract from the question.

How Johnson gets the equivalent behaviour is the difficult part.

Maybe he would fight exclusively in the middle east, but have middle east girls who refuse to wear the veil in public. I think some of those guys might do what the rednecks failed to do to Johnson, and kill him.

Maybe he would need to be a muslim and create a pro extremist approach like anthony mundine. ACtually, the Anthony Mundine persona is probably about the closest i think that we get to what Jack Johnsons persona was. Lots of flash and controversy, although the difference is obviously that Johnson would be more popular world wide and he would be a hell of a lot better.

It shouldnt be forgotten, that Johnson's style of caution first and few KOs would not be appreciated here either. He would have that Ruiz like hate thing going.

You have to actually wonder whether or not he would actually be more hated today, than in his own time, where he was obviously appreciated for his skill and class whereas today you would hear nothing but how he ducked fighters, he was KOd at first chance, he clinches too much and cheats, he cant punch etc. Rather than being appreciated as an all time great, who perhaps may not have beaten our favourites of yesteryear but who certainly was the best of his time.

Mc,REMEMBER,we are all products of our times, and were Jim Jeffries fighting today ,his thinking would not be the SAME illogic racism of 1900-10

Just for the record, Jim Jeffries wasn't so worried about the physical prowess of black fighters but that the stench of them might overcome him and make him prostate before their punches could.

Just thought you might want to be enlightened.

He might be a heavyweight PBF ?
Johnson is a fascinating character,[to me at least,] but I'd sooner watch a Dempsey fight.

If Jack Johnson were champ today he'd be in the Guiness book for being world champion at 133 years of age.... My guess is, he'd be a shell of his former self, but still dangerous... A real ATG without doubt....

In a boxing sense the public would soundly boo his Ruiz like tactics, and laughable competition, while ignoring the best 4-5 heavyweights out there.

Johnson might be better off at cruiser as fans pay less attention to this division. There is a good chance he would be jailed for doing something illegal as well.

Yeah ,he definitely should have taken on Jack Dillon in 1912 instead of Jim Flynn, then you would have 2 chances for slagging him. If Johnson killed Dillon he would have been jailed and that would have been fine with you,if he just kod him you could spend half your life saying ,"but he was only 156lbs", same as you do now about Langford.
On the second observation I thought he was :huh

As champion Johnson avoided the best three contenders out there. This is fact. How did Flynn get into this thread? The Flynn fight was a disgrace, and a huge disappointment. Anyone who paid to see it should have received a full refund.

As for the jailed comment, when a man beats a lady within an inch of her life, or pimps out women for money, he is jailed. :deal

Johnson was never convicted, jailed , or tried for either offence.

Are you hearing the voices again?
