I would have to go with Jack Johnson by KO. Smarter fighter, better fighter, endurance of a machine. Joe Walcott just simply is not on the level of the legendary Jack Johnson as far as I am concerned. It would be a good fight, as he was always a great contender, but Jack Johnson is simply the better fighter.

agreed. walcott's slipperiness wouldn't work against a fighter like johnson. plus, joe's chin doesn't impress me too much. he's been ko'd by marciano, and also tends to fall when nailed.
jack's not the best of punchers, but if he caught you lovely, it could very well hurt a guy like walcott.

Joe would give Jack hell with his cleverness, but Jack was pretty nice to in that department.Jack by a close 15 round unanimous decision.

i just see jack's strength as too high a wall to climb. he'd outmuscle walcott by a longshot.

    A. Better fighter? In what way? Walcott looks just as skilled on film, in fact I think walcott looks even more advanced.

    B. Endurance was never one of Johnson's strong points either. Walcott took a fighter in Jack Johnsons class in Joe Louis 15 tough rounds, and Walcott never showed danger in getting tired in those 15 rounds despite being on his bicycle the whole fight.

    C. Walcott was not just a great contender, he was an ATG heavyweight and a heavyweight champion.

    A. Walcott had a lot more than just slipperiness. He packed dynamite in both fists, had an excellent jab, could feint with the best of them, had nasty moves in his footwork, could move his upperbody and head as good as anyone, and he was quite crafty.

Joe's chin doesn't impress you? How much does Johnsons chin impress you? Who did he ever beat that was a mega big puncher? 156lb Langford? Sam McVea in his early years? James grandfather Jeffries?

Walcott beat plenty of young studs in their primes like Hatchetman Sheppard, Tommy Gomez, Lee Q Murray, Elmer Ray all men considered in the top heavyweight punchers of the 40s decade.

Sure, Walcott was knocked out by Marciano. When did Johnson take on a fighter of Marcianos punching caliber?

Walcott could most surely put Johnson in la la land to if he connects on Johnson. Walcott could hit.

The majority of Walcott's better opponents went the distance with him.
    Oma
    Ray
    Layne
    Hoff
    Bivins
    Charles 3 out of 4
Fox x 2 ,Fox won both ,1 by ko
    Baksi
Louis x2,both losses ,1 by ko.

Maxim x3 Maxim won 1 and one was a split dec
Why would anybody suppose that Johnson would not do better than feather dusted 180lbs Maxim? :huh
