Jack Johnson vs Ingemar Johansson

Johnson by decision, maybe even under the modern rules as well

 

Johnson is much the better overall, but I think his style is all wrong for Johansson. A passive, defensive fight plays into Ingo's hands. It strikes me it will be a dull fight with Ingo circling and Johnson not pursuing. On film Johnson seems vulnerable to overhand rights. Whatever else, Ingo had a right.

I can easily see an upset and in fact would predict one.

 

I think I’d favour Johnson, because he’s just the better fighter in innumerable ways, but I definitely take your point. His style doesn’t help, & I am skeptical he can absorb Johansson’s best punch. A Johansson victory is very plausible.

 

I voted for Johnson but you make an excellent argument. May have to reconsider my pick here.

 

I go go for johnson but yes, can't rule it out entirely.
