Norton is one of the most overrated heavyweights in history and the only HW "champion" to have never won a HW title fight. Johnson would beat him.
Johnson is better on the outside and the inside. The only way I see Norton winning this is if Johnson is not physically able to adapt to a faster tempo style of boxing than he was used to.
Posing a stylistic prpblem for Ali and Ali-light does not automatically translate to every other fighter as we saw in his actual career, which outside of that one win resulted in one of the thinnest resumes for a member of a very watered down hof.
Would that version of Ali take a back seat to any heavyweight that Johnson fought? Did Johnson even beat a heavyweight in the same league as that version of Ali?
JOHNSON beat little men like ketchell give me a break :deal deal....although i respect jack johnson i didnt give a ****tttttt
he has a good resume. being a black champion meant more than just becoming an icon, it means you beat the best black and white.(for the most part, management is vital for everyone)
yup Johnson was the first undisputed one in many ways. Add up his defences of both, he outstrips joe louis. Outstanding. No wonder hes top five ATG.
He outstrips Louis by beating having a jr. middleweight Sam Langford as his best conquest? OK. If you say so.
a LMW is a HWs best conquest? Do I SAY THAT? REALLY? NO. YOU MEAN IF YOU SAY SO! YOU are the only one saying so. and aha sam Langford is shyte, yes? He wasn't better than other LMWs jones and toney who had HW bouts? ok. if you say so.That's like writing "HAHA welterweight Sugar Ray was hardly a valid opponent at MIDDLEWEIGHT!!" U FCUKWIT.
Not only did Norton beat Ali twice, he took a prime Larry Holmes to the brink in a very exciting 15 round title fight when he was past his prime! Sure he was " overrated ". Norton matches up vs well vs. boxer types. How does Norton do vs. say a counter puncher? He owned Quarry better than Frazier did! Both Holmes and Ali are better boxers and bigger puncher than Johnson. I don't think that is debatable. Johnson is a low guard, low punch output, safety first type of fighter, who didn't have a size, reach, or power advantage here. He was exposed by a much smaller man in Jack O'Brien where he was out-jabbed, marked nd floored by a crude Ketchel, and just slightly the on the 20+ minutes of film vs Frank Moran, with Moran doing better on the outside. It doesn't take a logic master to see how this one turns out. Norton thrashes him.
