Actually yes I have , and my eyes say none of them looked like they were in it to win it. Ruddock went in their to survive rather than to win. Just jabbing and holding. Sounds like he was pretty scared. Majority of the rest went down quick. Is this what you guys think of strong capable heavyweights who were former world champions? I was always shocked seeing such big men so terrified in the ring. Especially Bruno he had the tools and even hurt Tyson. He was just to psyched out and scared to take any advantage. All of them were about like Max Baer and Louis. Beaten before they even stepped into the ring.
If you watch the fights I mentioned, you'll see that the boxers who were stopped early were trying hard to impose their wills on Tyson but got themselves hurt in the process. Ruddock landed plenty of big punches in their rematch.
Was the Ruddock rematch before or after Buster Douglas beat Tyson and showed he was beatable? I still say the others were scared but even if they weren't does a strong top ten heavyweight getting blasted out so early really say much for their skills? Or even Tyson's for that matter? Especially if they just played into his hands.
A prime Tyson wins early in my opinion. Johnson would simply never have remotely came across anyone like Tyson and I just couldn't see him handling the speed and power of the combinations. If he were to survive the early onslaught 4 or 5 rounds say, then he may well negate and tie Tyson up for a points win or late stoppage.
Ruddock never went in to survive. He fought like hell both times. Holmes and Berbick went down how many times and kept getting up. Thomas took a frightful beating in the early rounds and still gamely fought on till the seventh. Bonecrusher fought the way he did because it was the only alternative to being brutally KO'd. It's such a cop out argument to basically give Tyson no credit for any win because all his opponents were supposedly "scared", not to mention a slight on a lot of good fighters, many of whom had never been beaten the way Tyson beat them.
Johnson never fought anyone close to Tyson, but you could say Marvin Hart was an aggressive swarming type, and he didn't hit nearly as hard and lacked Tyson's skills. Tyson via KO here, inside 5 rounds.
Yes--he is serious. There are a few boxing guys who prefer to rely on books and get smitten. The trouble is the films do not correspond to the accolades of the past for the most part. If you want to say something nice about Johnson, he had a good right uppercut. His hands were fast, and on the inside he could clinch like a mother octumps defending her egg sack. But jab on the outside on flim? Maybe vs a 5'9" unskilled Ketchel, yet Moran ( a real heavyweight ) who was not much taller pretty much was the better on the outside, and was as a much smaller Jack O'Brien. And of course Johnson's outside game was DOA vs. Jess Willard.
So if it isn't on film it never happened? Johnson beat the best jabber of his generation Denver Ed Martin whose each was 82inches. Moran didn't get the best of Johnson on the outside, that is a blatant lie as Pollack's book emphatically proves. Moran was 6'1.5" you fool! Johnson was in front after 20 rounds against Willard more **** from you! Your phobic hatred of Johnson once again leads you into ridiculous statements. OCTUMPS! Have a day off, you're a joke.
Exactly they'd never been beaten that way before. So that means they weren't afraid of Tyson? You honestly think Tyson's so good he blasts out good strong heavyweights like that. Plenty of people who were there said Ruddock only fought to survive in the second fight. Which doesn't matter at that time Tyson got beat by Douglas so that veil of invincibility wasn't there when Ruddock fought. So he shouldn't of been afraid. Taking punishment doesn't mean bravery. Even Baer who was scared to death still went four rounds with Louis and even hit with a good right hand that staggered him for a moment. By the way this isn't a cop out this is what I think and observe and many others have observed. One of Tyson's biggest strengths was that he was the most intimidating fighter on earth before his first loss.
And his multiple early Ko's to the head or body are also not on film. Martin was a tall string bean type. Also, can you show me sources that called Ed Martin " the best jabber " of his generation? I called Moran a real heavyweight and slightly taller than Johnson. Check the box. Now, if you F'n watch the films, Moran was the better on the outside. Nothing Adam or any writer will pen will prove the footage false. Deal with it:deal I see you are avoiding the fact that a shorter and much lighter Jack O'Brien was the better on the outside. You often quickly retreat from such facts, then go off tangent rather then address them:deal This was not the point I was talking about! DUH. I said Johnson's outside game was out of business vs Willard, and again if you watch the films you'll either agree with me or be shown as a fanboy. Willard, by the way, won quite a few rounds before the 20th, and this was a long fight. I once asked you to score the shown rounds with me. You balked! If the fight was shorter, Willard would have made his move sooner. Fess up, you'll never beat me on the facts or on film when it comes to Johnson. You're so owned I actually became bored with the topic
Quite simply, you are a moronic bigot. A habitual liar and a re****. I just correct you, I've no interest in engaging with you otherwise, you can't educate pork .
LOL in your face old man! Try these Jack Johnson facts on for size! Ko'd by a super middle! Quit in multiple fights! Ducked his best 3-4 challengers as champion! Lost to Marvin Hart in a high stakes match! Knocked down by a short blown up middle ( Ketchel )in a title fight! Outboxed by a much smaller and lighter man ( O'Brien ) in a title fight ruled a draw! Drew with a journeyman ( Batlting Jim ) as champion. No re-match offered! Won his title from a man who stood but 5'7" tall and weighted 168 pounds! Says he was in " pre-arranged fights " Lost his title to one of the worst lineal champions of all times, then lies and says it was fixed! Fouled more than you think. Need I go on. Wanna debate any of these points? LOL, owned again by the facts. Even the dullest punching bags eventually wear out. Didn't you say you were quitting the board recently? By the way, the definition of a bigot is That fits you to a T.
So was Ruddock fighting to survive, or was he not afraid because Tyson had lost his veil of invincibility? Or was he afraid even though he shouldn't have been any more? You honestly think Tyson was only able to beat those guys because they were "afraid"? Or was it his lethal combination of skill, speed and power that was getting the job done? Methinks the latter was a tad more important.
