Johnson was said to be a man ahead of his time in terms of his boxing skills but could he beat Fury, a man who was crowned Hwt champion almost 100 years after Johnson?
The Fury that fought Klitschko is a really tough opponent, and could be all wrong for Johnson. But I suspect that Johnson will not be hesitant like Wlad was, and will get in range to land barrages of punches from creative angles. He nullified Willard strength and size for a good 20 rounds this way. Can Fury utilize his reach and height by staying on the outside against a tough, smart, strong puncher like Johnson? Definitely possible. Fury would do well in the clinch, so he could smother and move and jab. But I think Johnson outsmarts him, and lands more punches for the decision in a short 12 rounder.
Fury is the most amateurish fighter I've ever seen win the hwt championship. Johnson of course schools him.
Fury wins. His style, athleticism, nifty footwork and fighting spirit do well against the diminutive and largely static Johnson. Not a fun fight to watch but the action leaves little to be doubted in regards to who is the winner.
I see why you say this, but a lot depends on the round limit for me. It's funny saying it but I think Tyson could spoil over a 12 rounder, and Johnson's M.O. , don't give up too much, don't take risks and get it done. Over a 45 round fight. Fury would likely get Brutalized against a peak Johnson. Even over a 12 rounder, if A peak Johnson knows it's a 12 rounder, you don't think he'll blitz and throw combos considerably more? I think if it's a prime Johnson going for the title and he knows he needs to get it done, Fury better stand his ground, cause he won't sit back like Wlad did and let him spoil, he'll be rushing Fury, and I'm not sure Tyson wins that fight
Could be a awful clash of styles. Don't see either man been kod or even dropped. Perhaps a fair few warning s from the ref for both men when both start getting frustrated. But I see Jack s experience and mental strength seeing him to a close unanimous vote.
The longer it goes the better it is for Fury actually, wrestling a man who is so much heavier takes it out of you down the stretch. Fury beats him up and stops him late IMO.
Fury doesn't like to Wrestle though, that isn't his thing really. To say nothing of the fact, that Wrestling isn't all about size, it's also about strength and leverage. Being that Johnson was much more versed in this wrestling type of affairs, I'd say he'd be vastly more adept at it, which in turn would mitigate the size advantage for Fury.
But again, why would Johnson need to, Fury isn't going to be trying to wrestle him like you suggest. That isn't his typical style.
Have you seen Fury box, he doesn't regularly choose to engage like that, so while it will happen from time to time, I see nothing to suggest, the little that did happen, would tire out Johnson first. In fact, I'd say it would be the opposite if anything.
Fury is better than Jess Willard was, I feel Willard was completely amateur compared to both these guys.
