Ketchel strayed from the script and Johnson being a good friend took it light on him, ppl forget that they were close friends. Jack closes friends were Sam Mcvey and Stanley Ketchel. Johnson literally just decided 'ok now im going to ko you for that' and did instantly.

As far as Jones is concern, Jack would clinch him so much, it would change Roy's movement he''d have to adjust to Jack's temple. The longer Jack survives the more it goes in his favor.

This may be news to you but its not uncommon for fighters to be knocked down is sparring matches.

Johnson was notorious for taking it easy on his sparring partners and Smith who could hit took a liberty, knocking Johnson half way through the ropes.Smith in a taped interview never claimed to have tko'd or ko'd Johnson. He did claim that the kd of Johnson by Ketchel was a fake and several ringside reporters including WW Naughton were not convinced it was genuine. Ketchel was weighed in front of reporters on October the 8th, he scaled 174lbs.
