I'm just brushing up on my Bantamweight history and I came across this name. He fought in the Bantamweight and Featherweight divisions in the late 1910's until the the mid 1920's.

His FW resume is a bit all over the place and he lost a good few times, but down at BW it's a completely different story.

Working off a 6 year prime going from 1917-1923 he managed to defeat the following names at or a smidge over the BW limit: M Moore, P Herman, Lynch, K Williams, Burman (x2), Ertle (x2), Hayes. During this time the only man who could beat him at or a smidge over the BW limit was Lynch (not including decision bouts under 10 rounds).

I mean you've got HOF names there like Moore, Herman, Lynch and Williams. All of whom where the best BW in the world at some point (Herman at the time of his victory by my reckoning). He also beat future champ Burman and a guy in Ertle who has a somewhat dubious claim to the lineal championship (some confusion over the legitimacy of a DQ). The Hayes victory I noted because the guy has a couple of victories over Monte Attell and a victory over Conley.

Is this guy a well known name as a BW because I hadn't really heard of him until I started looking into this division but he undoubtedly has a great BW resume and it'd take some doing to rival it truth be told. From what I've read I see no good reason for me not to label this man a BW great.

    Thoughts?
