Lets not get carried away. Jones workrate is still too low IMO. On top of this, he no longer counters when others are throwing. He covers up.
Look, I'm as big a RJJ fan as any, but he was flat-footed and timid, with little to no movement and only bursts of the old Roy. This Roy has the same result as the other tarver/johnson fights.
He ****ed Tito up tonight and he'd **** Glen up too given another opportunity. Don't underestimate a determined Roy!
Roy was very fast tonight and wasn't running away like his last Tarver fight, I think he realized early on Tito couldn't hurt him and his confidence grew....and his punches were lighting quick tonight as well....I'm not sure if this success will translate on to a Calzaghe or Pavlik however.
Roy looks good because Tito can't hurt him. If he's this cautious with Tito, imagine someone else thats a true supermiddle, pack a punch, not one dimensional ....Roy would be in trouble. A good win for Roy, but Tito is only true 154 at best 160 lbs fighter.
are you serious???? JC would OWN jones... and i think he would stop him. in fact.... imo it would almost be as easy as the lacy fight. Jones, when faced with aggression, turtles up.... and would be in that position ALL NIGHT. he throws one, maybe two punches at a time... often wont even follow up on his own good work, instead retreats and goes back into his stance when he could easily finish the job... He ****ed tito up? he was SUPPOSED to **** tito up... hell, ROY knew he was supposed to **** tito up... dude, Trinidad is a 154lber.... and hasnt fought in 2 years... lol.. it was an intriguing exhibition fight... but even roy failed on his own terms... even he says if tito goes the distance with him then theres something wrong with HIM... and its TRUE. tito should have NEVER gone the distance.... Glen would still make it a good fight... and if he could keep the pace and pressure of the first fight, roy would again find his ass on the ropes absorbing punch after punch... just like the first time they fought. a determined roy... lol... so i take it roy wasnt determined the third time he fought tarver? the person that just one shoted his ass? if you cant get determined for that theres something wrong with you..
